5.0 out of 5 starsAwesome Product

I was tired of pulling out zerk fittings or having trouble getting the end of the grease tip on zerk fittings in awkward spots. So I decided to try this product, and am I happy I did. It works as advertised. Makes greasing my tractor, utv and trailers a breeze. I have seen reviews stating that grease got all over the place, this is not the case I had no problems at all. One zerc fitting had a seized ball bearing from dirt and the grease would not inject. I took a pick and some wd 40 sprayed it pushed in the bearing with the pick. Attached the grease hose again and no problem at all. I think many reviews stating grease would not go in the zerc and got all over the place had the same problem. I am going to buy 2 more for my other guns. I am no mechanic and am a casual user I guess, so we will see how it holds up, seems well made. I would highly recommend this item

1.0 out of 5 starsA good idea in concept, not so great in reality
Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2018
First, we own/operate a ranch so we have many pieces of equipment that require lubrication (greasing). Most have at least one fitting that is hard to access and often results in a mess because the coupler won't attach securely. The worst is a snocat we have that has 26 grease fittings on the axles and drive train. None of these are easy to access and most are "blind". I had hoped that this lock-on coupler would help decrease the amount of grease not going in the fitting and make securing the coupler a bit easier. I just serviced the snocat and this is what I found: 1) this fitting is larger than a standard coupler, both in length and diameter, and will not work in areas with limited clearance; The handle release adds to this issue; the handle release has a pretty stiff spring, so if your hands are greasy and clearance is limited, it is virtually impossible to hold it open and get the coupler onto the zerk fitting; though the coupler "locks" onto the fitting; if you are working on a "blind" fitting, the face of the coupler is flat, which won't allow you to feel if you have it over the fitting and the jaws are too stiff to hold open for very long; if it is not on absolutely straight it will leak grease; without a hose swivel (which LockNLube markets, not surprisingly) you will find yourself twisting your grease gun every which way trying to get the coupler open, and sometimes, loose because of the large spring handle. After struggling with it 26 times yesterday I ended up going back to a strong 4-jaw "standard" coupler. I'll keep it as sometime I might find a use, but overall, it didn't work at all for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars 50% success

Bought two of these. One works exactly as advertised. The other one slips off 50% of the time so grease oozes all over. Both couplers are on identical grease guns - Lincoln 1162. So 5 stars for one, 1 star for the other.
Their website has no customer service department. Only a toll number and an address.
A difficult to find website instruction says to hold the lever forward if it slips off. Doesn't work with the pressures involved. Plus, their website brag is that it is a one hand operation. Not so if the other hand has to hold the lever.
Now the coupler is supposed to come with extra jaws and a seal for a 25% greater price according to the website.
I'm going to try the toll number to see what happens.

Edit update: Just got off the phone with customer service (I believe it was the owner.) We had a very informative conversation that speaks volumes about the integrity and genuineness of the company. I am very pleased with the results of the conversation and would rate the company as a whole as 5+ stars. I urge anybody that wants this product to feel confident that it will work and, in the rare case of a problem, it will be resolved.

3.0 out of 5 stars Impractical and Unusable
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2019

I am a design engineer and this looked like a great design and got 5 star ratings however it just isn't practical. Does it lock onto standard zerk grease nipples, yes it does however it is HUGE and is way too big to be practical. There are 6 grease nipples on my John Deere ride on mower, 2 on the front wheels, 2 on the steering uprights and 2 on the blade shaft flange bearings. This nozzle/coupler is so long it does not fit into the space between the zerk and the inside edge of the wheel rim or inside the large 6" dimples in the deck containing the flange bearings so you cannot get it onto the zerk. It is almost twice the length of the standard zerk coupler. I greased the front uprights using it then had to remove it and fit the old standard one to grease the other 4. I just don't have time to mess around changing this depending on the access. Fitting right angled zerks is not a possibility as there is no room to turn them as the right angled fitting doesn't have clearance between the hole and the wheel or bearing surface so that isn't a solution either. I appreciate others thought it was great but I just bought an expensive unusable (for me) part.

3.0 out of 5 stars A regular grease gun tip will work on any grease ...

A regular grease gun tip will work on any grease zerk if it's clear and can take grease. As a farmer servicing many different types of equipment I have found numerous zerks that you can not get this tip on, usually there is not enough room to operate the latching mechanism. Because of this my main grease gun has a regular tip, and this tip is mounted on a grease gun that I go and get if I have a plugged zerk and need to try and clear it. It does hold tight and I am able to clear many plugged zerks, it's just a matter of needing plenty of space to make it work. Therefore it's regulated to special use duty, not my main grease gun.

3.0 out of 5 stars SOMETIMES Does The Job

On the rear grease fitting on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD OR's driveshaft, the Lock-N-Lube standard device would NOT fit. I removed the heat shield, tried rotating the driveshaft this way & that, held my mouth "just right", and it still said "F you!".

Ended up removing the fancy $30 Lock-N-Lube adapter & putting the standard "dumb" grease gun fitting back on. It fit onto the grease Zerk fitting with no real hassle.

Considering the "Lock-N-Lube narrow needle dispenser", but...then again...WHY should I spend another $11 on top of a non-fitting $30 Lock-N-Lube grease adapter to STILL have to hold the needle into place with 1 hand, while pumping grease with my 2nd hand while holding the grease gun with my 3rd hand?

Nope.

The Lock-N-Lube worked OK with my John Deere riding mower Zerk fittings, but does not do the job with my Tacoma. Oh well...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great while it lasts, but the tips don't last long and are expensive to replace.
Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2020

This is a very handy tool to use while greasing up agricultural equipment, but the tips are terribly overrated. We use a Milwaukee M18 grease gun that puts out about 10,000 PSI, which the tips are supposed to be rated for, but the seals get completely obliterated after greasing up only one or two machines (we use the slow speed setting on the gun, just fyi). Once worn out, no amount of manipulating the tip on the zerk fitting will get it to seal properly - they puke grease everywhere except into the fitting. At $12/ea for replacements, the convenience is quickly eaten up by the cost of keeping it working. They need to go back the the drawing board on the plastic material they use for the core of the tips - it would be a winner if they could iron that part out with something more robust. Until then, I'm not sold on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very good on easy to reach fittings, horrible on an angle
Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2021

This thing works great if the fitting is straight and easy to reach. Filled my soul with joy watching the the grease flow. But then I had not so easy to reach fittings and although it looked like I had a great connection on it, grease flew everywhere but into the fitting. Zero adjustment could make this work, the angles I was dealing with appeared far less than in Youtube review videos. My joy turned to sadness as I had to replace it with the grease guns normal attachment which did the job. Carefully consider how much room you have to work with as this attachment is much larger than the out of box couplers.

As I can only use it on 2 fittings, I feel this thing was a waste of money for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great in theory, not so much in actual function.
Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2019

I thought that this would be a great idea as the 2 biggest issues with greasing Zerk fittings is leakage and getting it off the fitting when done. The locking/release feature works great, but it does leak grease with every grease fitting I greased sometimes leaving large amounts of grease around the nipple. in tight areas, I wasn't sure that I was getting grease into the zerk at all. This is compounded by the fact that it is necessarily larger to house the moving parts. This makes it difficult in tight situations in being able to get a good alignment on the nipple, which if you don't, it will leak. I ultimately took it off and replaced with my original which is smaller in diameter.
Worth $30? No, I don't think so.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a wonder grease fitting, but works great in certain situations
Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2019

I've had this grease fitting for quite a while now, and I'll say that it's almost useless if you try using it on regular passenger or even most commercial cars and trucks. The head is simply way too big, and the spaces you have to cram it into are much too small to fit into, and even if you do it'll be way too constricted for you to be able to actuate the little lever to connect the thing.

It's main use, I've found, is using it on heavy equipment where the grease fittings are pretty much fully in the open, and take tons and tons of grease. It's much better than having to hold a regular fitting on there while you pump away for minutes.

Despite them advertising that the head can go on just about any angle, I haven't found that to be true at all. Just like a regular grease fitting, you have to make sure it's pretty much straight on, or it'll start leaking right out the sides even if it is locked on. It doesn't leak AS much as a standard fitting would, but still.

It's definitely not at one size fits all, wonder grease head to be used in any situation, but I use it a lot on my air powered grease gun in certain situations.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easier disconnection from grease fittings
Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2019

I purchased the lock and lube grease connector after having a problem for the first time in my life (i am now retired) removing the grease connector from a zerk fitting. The lock and lube is easily installed. I used the connector to lube my tractor. On most zerks it connected and resulted in good transfer of grease into the joint. Some lubrication joints did not allow the grease to enter and lubricate the joint. On a couple of joints the lock and lube allowed grease to flow around the zerk fitting and also enter the joint. I will have to remove the lock and lube and return to the normal coupler as the lock and lube's length will not allow it to be used to lubricate some of the joints.
Overall, it is easy to use, but bulky. Would i recommend the lock and lube connector? Well, I am not sure that i would discourage getting it. Nor, am i sure i would urge getting one. At this point, i think i will explore a generic version of quick coupler device, perhaps shorter in length allowing more versatile use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too stiff to use after using 3 times ... replacement works fine but for how long?

Bought in February 2019. Greased my john Deere 1025r. Worked well. In May I greased my Zero Turn Mower. Stored it in my temp. controlled shop. Brought it out to grease my mower deck before putting the mower deck in storage. The LockNLube was impossible to use. It took two hands to press the lever. Pushed it on a zerk and I could pump grease. To remove it require two hands to unlock.

11-12-19 Update: Manufacturer sent a replacement under there warranty. It works fine. Let’s see how long it continues to work.

Updated review to 3 stars. Will update in six months again

Be wary of reviews. When it works, it works well. Time will tell, My first one was useless in less than a year.
