I adored the Desperate Housewives of Olympus book by Saranna DeWylde and have been patiently awaiting this new release. It did not disappoint! Saranna weaves outstanding tales of love, lust, friendship, redemption, forgiveness, and happily ever afters in many of her books.
In Desperate Housewives of Avalon we join our favorite Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, and her bestie Artemis on vacation in Avalon. Artie is tired of being the eternal virgin and Aphrodite is certain she can find a willing "purple headed womb ferret" to do the job. Mix in a few Greek Gods and Goddesses, King Arthur and his subjects and the magical women of Avalon and you have a story you can not put down. The book contains multiple characters and story lines all interconnected and related into one fabulous read!
We have all heard the tales of King Arthur and Avalon as well as the escapades of the Greek Gods. Saranna manages to magically weave these together in an original, hilarious and very sexy story. This girls' weekend turns into so much more, who knew Aphrodite could create such a commotion.
I don't believe you will come across another author as playful and entertaining as Saranna. Her characters are well written, extremely love able, highly entertaining and often flawed. The stories always leave you wanting more. Sometimes, they leave you needing a cold shower!! I highly recommend this book!! I can't wait for the next installment!!
Saranna DeWylde never fails to provide hot, lusty entertainment but what sets her apart is her use of historical and mythological reverences throughout her books. This series has done an amazing job of incorporating the stories I read in school with the realities of life today. It's not easy to bring the two worlds together in a way that doesn't distract the reader in one direction or another and doesn't throw out one view for another. There is the perfect balance in this book. The Gods and Goddesses are fascinating and just downright hot but throw in a couple of Knights in shining...and tarnished armor and you have perfection!
Artemis decides she is going to get her v-card punched once and for all and Aphrodite decides to help by talking her on vacation at Avalon. Love is out of control when the goddess of love shows up and everything the residents have come to know and hate about each other turns on end. This is a sexy and fun romance with multi characters and several mini tales all rolled into one sizzling interlocking story. What I loved about the book is how the author twists known unhappy fates of characters in myths and legends into happily-ever-afters. This yummy story mixes some Greek goddesses, the Camelot characters, and then adds a dash of a Welsh war god for taste. I laughed out loud several times and could not put the book down. I loved the characters and couldn't stop turning the pages. What I didn’t like is nothing. I really truly enjoyed the whole book. Except that it ended. This would be a great read to get you in the lovey dovey mood for Valentine’s Day or any other day you want to get that happy-squishy-feel-good-feeling. I highly recommend it. It's definitely a treat.
Once again Saranna opens up the world of gods & godesses with humor, heartbreak and healing. When Aphrodite takes hold of Avalon no heart can hide! This was such a pleasure to read that I had the hardest time trying to put it down. I read it in a matter of days and only because I didn't want it to end. I could have finished it in one sitting. The challenges the characters must overcome kept me enthralled. An easy book to start but a difficult one to finish because I didn't want it to end. Definitely a re-read :o)
This was a great read. I can't wait for the next book in the series. It was hilarious, sweet, and sexy. The characters were written in a way that makes you look inside yourself at your own issues and relationships. It really turns the mythology we learned on its head, which just made this read more fun and interesting. Get ready to laugh a lot and let a lot of heavy sighs slip out at the HEA for the characters.
I love Sarranna Dewylde's writing. Her books are always entertaining. The characters are interesting and well rounded. They make you snort laughing and push back tears. I enjoyed how Ms. DeWylde mixed mythology to bring characters together in the world of Avalon. This was a nice sequel to The Real Housewives of Olympus.
I think I have found a new series to fall in love with. This story is book 2 in the series dealing with my favorite characters in mythology. This deals with the characters from the legend of Aurthor. It was a great book and I cannot wait for more.
I am a purist when it comes to the myths. As an English major, I’ve read them, wrote about them, and even taught them. But I never laughed or enjoyed them as much as I do when author, Saranna DeWylde, has her way with them.
Did I mention DeWylde’s blend of tongue in cheek characters, inventive romantic escapades, biting lines and maybe even a little biting is funny as all get out? You will laugh out loud. You may even spit food out if trying to snack while enjoying this second book, Desperate Housewives of Avalon. And if you read Desperate Housewives of Olympus, you can laugh and spit again--if you wish. They ARE that good!
I loved how the author was able to take the traditional Greek mythological characters and blend them with the loving betrayers and traditionally evil ones found in the romantic, yet tragic Avalon—you know, the vacation get away. Who hasn’t had hopes of going away for a little time away at the Lake to spend some fun time in the arms of a hot god/enchanted being/or possibly man with a fiery dragon within him? Anything is possible when the pure Artemis and the love goddess Aphrodite are on the prowl. Plan on seeing Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Morgan Le Fay, Mordred, the Lady of the Lake and other favorites in a whole new and quite entertaining light.
The basic premise of myths is that they reflect human lives and their dramas on an amped up level. You can learn about a culture by what the people believe in their mythology. Utilizing the Desperate Housewives context is genius and proves the world hasn’t changed all that much when it comes to affairs of the heart, but they can to be fun to read about when the author is as talented as Saranna DeWylde!
This is not a book for the young ones due to some of the sexy scenes, but anyone who loves to read about a hilarious romp or two or more will enjoy the complex relationships taking place in Avalon.
This is the frist book I have read from this author. and I enojed it so much I went and check out more of her books. Would defently tell others to read Desperate Housewives of Avalon. I enjoy reading books that keep me going long in to the night. would tell anyone who asked yes they should read this book. Great job Saranna. looking forward to more of your books
