Great story with a bitter sweet but exciting ending

Interesting story about the mess that exists in the Middle East and Africa today and the meddling being done by Russia and China. The story moves along at a decent pace (slow in spots) but moves to an exciting "can't put it down" last 150 pages.
I've discovered that there is nothing conventional about Mike Maden's story lines. You just can't guess what is coming next with which bad guys get whacked (in interesting ways) as well as what good guys meet with unfortunate demise.
One thing that I really like about Maden's novels (albeit missing in this one) is the list of prominent characters in the beginning as well as a list of the ubiquitous abbreviations/acronyms with definitions. They help you keep things straight in your head.
