Enjoyable human characters. Some silly things - the pet bakery is called the "barkery". This books has 2 old dogs getting married.
An old beagle and a retired greyhound. "Pupptials" Just too too cutesy-poo. There is never any explanation as to why they are
getting married - are they going to have mixed-breed puppies to add to all the other mixed-breed puppies in the world? It would make some sense, though still very silly, if they were AKC dogs of the same breed, but this was nauseatingly stupid. And there is the author's complete lack of knowledge of any animals other than dogs. Cats are depicted as being just like dogs - wearing clothing, being carried around in purses, on shoulders. Just stupid things like that - no knowledge at all of cats, so why doesn't she either find out about cats or just stick to dogs? And now she is going into the cat fancy in her next book. A woman comes in from the "Midwestern Cat Fanciers Association" carrying her Burmese in a purse (no true cat fancier would EVER do that), buys the cat a collar with a dangle (again, something no cat fancier would ever do - the collar would disrupt the fur, and dangles are just stupid), and announces they are looking for a venue for the association's annual meeting/cat show. They will be awarding the Denford Prize, a bejeweled collar dangle worth well over a hundred thousand dollars. GEEEZ. Cat Fanciers awards are ribbons and plaques, never collar dangles. and you couldn't possibly even make a bejeweled collar dangle worth that much anyway. If you did, it would weigh more than any cat. Just stupid lack of knowledge. No Cat Fanciers Association could afford a hundred thousand dollar anything anyway. Why doesn't the author write about things she knows, or at least research it? In the excerpt in the back of the book for the next book, she is writing about the cat show. The cats are in PVC hutches being groomed by a local grooming company. That would NEVER happen. Cat fanciers groom their own cats, always, and they are either placed in carriers or cages, never "hutches". They are not rabbits. She mentions white Himalayans. No such creatures. Again, she thinks cats are just funny looking dogs. Few cats would tolerate total strangers handling them, even show cats. STOP WRITING ABOUT CATS IF YOU ARE SO IGNORANT ABOUT THEM!!
