How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsHelped me find hope and purpose after divorce
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2018
I read this book after hearing Sarah Jakes speak at my church during her book tour. Her story was a light of hope and purpose for me, a fairly new single mom who felt the shame of a failed marriage, struggling to see value in myself or my journey. This book changed everything. I couldn't put it down... I read it every night, late into the early morning hours each night until I was done... and then I re-read parts of it again. Last year I gave a copy to someone else, knowing it was going to shine the same type of light for her as it did for me.

1.0 out of 5 starsPoorly Written
Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2020
This book is very poorly written. It reads as if a 12-year-old has written it. She skims on details about the circumstances that led her to becoming pregnant and fills in the majority of her book with analogies and useless clichés. She hops back-and-forth while telling the story, which is very confusing.

The book is written from the perspective as if everyone goes through the same struggles that she went through rather than owning her own story (using phrases like “we think” excessively).

She is way too verbose on certain things. Her excessive details on her experience in school as a small child and things she would do with her sister pretty much have nothing to do with the title or subject of the book and are boring.

I wanted to stop after the first page but forced myself to read since I paid for it. I skimmed through the boring unneccessary details of things like the exact birthdays of her and her sister and how they fought about how many minutes apart they are.

She missed a major opportunity to educate other women about what “high risk” condition she had, which she never named. She also did not explain the circumstances surrounding why she chose to have sex. This book leaves much to be desired. It does not inspire hope. You must be able to tell the full truth if you want to actually inspire hope in people. She tells just enough of her story to say that she told her story and then throws in a whole bunch of hodgepodge that has nothing to do with anything.

I really wanted to like this book because I saw her speaking about her experience in a video and she was very early Quinn and the way she told her story was very compelling. But this is so poorly written. Editing and flow is terrible.

This is a true story written by Sarah Jakes. She does a fantastic job describing her life and the events that led her to make crucial decisions that thrusted her into adulthood at a very early age. With her faith and the support from her pastor father and her mother, she was able to overcome an otherwise very difficult situation. I recommend this book for teens and young adults, as well as other adult readers.

Life changing, perspective shifting! Well written, honest and real. This lady is anointed and humble! I read the whole book in one sitting- something I do not often do! I’m currently retreading! I also ordered more of her books.

It’s an excellent book. Sarah is an amazing author, I couldn’t stop reading this book. It’s relatable, raw and powerful. I’m so thankful that I got the opportunity to read it during a very difficult time.
