Hannah Griffin works at the Santa Louisa County Courthouse as a crime investigater. She has a terrible secret that Ethan, her husband, knows about; at least part of it.
She's investigating the Garcia abuse case. Bert and Joanne Garcia have a daughter, Mimi. Berto is currently in jail.
Hannah always thinks about that awful Christmas Eve; she is the sole survivor of that horrific event. Her brothers are dead and she thinks her mother, Claire is alive. She has no proof but senses it.
Ethan and Hannah have a daughter named Amber. They are very protective of her. When Amber comes home from school, she tells them that a lady spoke to her. This person tells Amber that she knows her mom.
Hannah gets in contact with retired Judge, Veronica Paine - she was involved with the Logan case all those years ago. Then she contacts FBI Agent Jeff Bauer.
Hannah and Jeff start investigating the people involved in the Garcia case as well as the Claire Logan case. The trail leads them to Kodiak, Alaska.
Who is Hannah's mother? The trail goes cold... until a fire consumes the Logan farm.
This is the first stand-alone book by this Author. Gregg's description to detail is vivid. Your heart goes out to Hannah - she wants to know the truth about what happened on that fateful day. This is a gut-wrenching and heart-pounding story.
This story will stay with me long after the book ends; the abuse Hannah and her brothers endured is tragic. She carries a lot of guilt because she was the sole survivor.
For this being Gregg's first attempt, I say BRAVO!!
