WALKING ON HER GRAVE - Rogue River Novella Book 4 of 4

WALKING ON HER GRAVE by Melinda Leigh is the fourth and final book in the "Rogue River" novellas and was a satisfying conclusion to this ongoing series. Once again I fell in love with Seth whose love for Carly practically jumps off the pages. He's finally coming to terms with his wife's independent nature and adjusting to the fact that she needs to stand beside him, not behind him. Their story held my attention from start to finish and had a great blend of action, suspense, and romance.
All the questions I had throughout this series were answered, including the big one... Who started the drug manufacturing in Solitude that was killing people, and why was Carly's father targeted? I can't honestly say that the culprit came as a big surprise, but it was never totally obvious to me either. The ending brought tears to my eyes, and leaves readers with the promise of a reconciliation. Then there was the final chapter which has both couples - Zane & Stevie and Seth & Carly - coming together for a sad but happy finale, that left me with a smile on my face when it was over =)
Oh how I adored Seth! Here's one of my favorite quotes by him:
(to Carly) "When you're not with me, I feel like I can't take a deep breath. I'm half a person, and not the best half."
I also loved the list of "Small Town Rules" that appeared in each book (10 in all) that are funny and probably all too accurate. I likely would have given this book five stars if someone had did a better job fact checking. For example, (location 31) Carly pulls up to a "one-story" house and then (location 85) someone calls up the stairs. Since when does a one story home have stairs inside? Then later (location 456) Zane is talking to Seth and says "According to Zane" which threw me off too.
I really did enjoy this entire series as a whole though and am already looking forward to the next duo of novellas that continue the story of this small town and these two couples. For those who don't know, the series of books that follow this set are:
Book 1 - Tracks of Her Tears by Melinda Leigh (Rogue Winter Novella)
Book 2 - Dead in Her Tracks by Kendra Elliot (Rogue Winter Novella)
