Most newer thinner lap tops don't have a dvd drive or even a LAN line plug from the factory now. This adapter works great. I wished it had color choices so I could match it to the pc, but that's not a real big deal. You just plug the LAN line in and then plug usb connector into the pc and you are done. Sometimes I have to unplug and replug mine in so that the internet makes connection, but I don't think that has anything to do with the adapter, just a timing issue cause it always works. The only thing that it really needs is a thicker more robust cable between the adapter and the usb connector. If your not careful I could see an issue with breaking the wires in the cord between the adapter and usb connector. Other than that, it's a great device and has not let me down yet.
