4.0 out of 5 starsABC SHOULDN'T HAVE CANCELD IT.

Season 2 is about even with season 1. But season 2 had more of an edge corrupt preacher and maybe evil or not mother and grandmother. When I say evil mother or grandmother I am speaking of maggie's grandmother and Henry and Fred's mother. When Marty tells Maggie the truth about him being a return she was upset but after an hour or two, she understands. The friendship between Marty and Langston is genuinely surprising. But Fred took a while longer basically because of Maggie and Marty's quick bond. Marty and Maggie's bond was an instant connection. There was a little Castle nod in there the banter and finishing each other sentences at the beginning of the series. Rachel was innocent in all of this Tom's wife wanted that baby so bad she held Rachel captive. And didn't tell her that Tom was dead or did she. In my opinion, she was probably going to kill Rachel after the baby was born and make it look like a suicide. And Jenny's little question to Robert aka Mary about why are you not married and Maggie's face was a bit flustered. Sometimes children pick up on small things we don't notice. And Jacob's friendship with Jenny is adorable before for he knew about the whole Marty connection. I' will just say this show makes you think about things. the Preacher James thinks Rachel's son will be the end of the days. I am not going to give it all away but the series deserves a season 3 or a revival with the same cast. About Marty and Maggie's relationship on the final. The kiss was not surprising at all you knew it was coming it was no sexual tension whatsoever. When Maggie said to him what are you going to think about he said her. It showed her how much he cared for her and the same for her. The first kiss was confessing their feeling for one another The other kiss was just passion. And still together after all this. I would have loved to see more scenes of Marty and Eline together that would have been interesting. And some girl talked between the girls. And maybe Marty meets Maggie's mom. And about the history between Margratet and Marty
because she said she knew him somehow. And the racist group the anti-return and painting upside-down crosses on the window, Stealing the KKK thing was surprising dumb.

2.0 out of 5 stars Season 2 started okay but quickly became as exciting as watching grass grow....in January.

I was totally hooked on this show.

It touches on a nerve with the whole idea of deceased loved ones coming back to life to be a part of a family again. Then it flips that joy on its' head and makes you think about if that's really a good thing or not. The series shows how that can be an unmitigated joy when someone who died too young comes back, but how it can be a disaster when the survivors have moved on with their lives.

A dead child coming back is always going to be a joy. But there is also a former girlfriend that comes back now that her surviving boyfriend is married. Tension ensues. Now into the second season they are adding people coming back who died with secrets that the rest of the world had forgotten. Now those 'returned' want to keep protecting those secrets...and the evidence of those secrets has long since moved or become part of something else. It's a very new twist on a classic detective theme.

It's also very interesting to see people who have been dead for 50 or 100 years come back and try to adjust to the changes in society. In season 1 a poor black family comes back after 40 years and is timid about interacting at a playground full of white children. That subtle element in the story telling spotlights the injustices of our past and makes for a very reflective moment in the show, and it does it without being preachy. Another 'returned' can't grasp the concept that a 2014 woman is a doctor and not married at 30, because 50 years ago that would have been very unusual. Now it's common. Not only do these kinds of things highlight how society continues to improve, but it shows how foreign modern day life would be to people even a generation ago. In season 2 a factory worker doesn't care to come back to life knowing that his wife and children have long since passed away, showing that homecomings wouldn't always be a cause for celebration.

Omar Epps still remains as the wet noodle on the show. He doesn't emote. There is never a smile, a frown, or anything else. It's one expression all the time. His character is really interesting though. His parents were 'returned' (not a spoiler, you learn this in season 1) and now he's got another very personal connection to being 'returned'. (I'll let you figure out what that is.) So the character is great, but Epps just doesn't sell it. He's not awful. It's not like he's a hole in the show that is bringing the entire thing down around him. But he's the central character so he should be the best actor on the set.

Unfortunately the storytelling in this season took a nosedive after the season 2 premier. It just dragged on endlessly with the plot never seeming to advance. I finally got bored and gave up with 3 episodes to go. I understand ABC has given the series the axe and will not be bringing it back for season 3, with the story left incomplete. So if you haven't started watching the series, don't start now or you'll be left hanging.

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm over it

I understand that the other six reviewers are major fans and I don't intend to offend anyone. I just am giving my honest opinion.

I've really been over this show since the beginning. The characters are carbon copy stereotypes for the most part...and therefore hardly likeable.
As far ads I'm concerned, they could've cancelled the series after the first 8 eps.
He's their son..blah blah blah.

The second season starts way too off their rocker like. Agent Bellamy has been shot and now he's returned..because its impossible for anything to stay dead in this town.
Fred is an outcast..which he deserves, after calling in the feds.
Tom is STILL having problems between his wife, his pregnant ex-girlfriend, and his faith.
And to top off the crazy cake. Add in Maggie and Jacob's evil returned grandmother and...wait for it...a government conspiracy. Just what every show needs.

With the way things are going. I'm starting to agree with the renew Believe, cancel Resurrection people.
