4.0 out of 5 starsbecause I really liked the story
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2017
An enjoyable book that totally lies in the title. There is no snow storm. I'm a big fan of the snowed in trope, and it never happens here. I didn't feel cheated, because I really liked the story, but if you have your heart set on blizzard related nooky, you're not going to find it here. Instead, you will read about super hot Jake being super hot and also in love with Dani who, in a very convenient turn of events, has also loved Jake THIS WHOLE ENTIRE TIME SINCE THEY WERE YOUNG. But Jake and Dani are slightly masochistic, so they've never admitted to each other how they feel, and also brothers in romance novels like to kill the men who date their sisters, and Jake is afraid his friendships will be RUINED and that he will be shanked by Dani's male relations, so at the beginning of the novel they are both like 'I want to have sex with you but' and then progressively move to 'maybe there shouldn't be a but here because I think the amount I want to have sex with you exceeds the amount of trouble it will cause'. And that, folks, is true love. There is a spot of OW drama just to make sure Jake and Dani have stuff to whine about on social media, but otherwise the conflicts are pretty natural and unforced. I recommend this one and am on book three of the series now.

3.0 out of 5 starsI was bored
Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2017
This book was well written but I just couldn't feel any connection for the main characters. A 25 year old woman and a 33 year old man are sneaking around and having sex because....why? The reasons didn't make any sense to me. An 8 year age difference at that age is nothing. She's his best friend's little sister. So what? Supposedly they have had intense feeling for each other for years so dating would not be just a "wham, bam, thank you ma'am." But, that is more or less what they made it seem like with all the sneaking around. I was bored and skimmed (then skipped) large chunks of this. This is my first Zoe York and I'm not sure if I will read another one.

I really liked this story. I do like Zoe York's writing. I liked the complexity and the inter-relationships of the 2 or 3 or more families that inter-act across multiple stories in the small Canadian town near Lake Heron.

I will advise those who do not like descriptive sex scenes that there will be several they need to skim or skip. They are not really necessary at level of descriptions for the story. But, they are well written. I did end up skimming them when they got repetitive.

The story itself is very good. The age gap makes sense for how things were in years past. Some of the issues they have with each other once they do hook up are a bit questionable, but go with the flow cause it makes a good story.

I liked this story a lot!!! I thought both Jake and Dani were very likable characters, as were many of the other cast of characters. That these two had those secret feelings for one another for years, without acting on them....wow, that alone melted my heart. My heart also really went out to Ryan and his 3 little children, and the tragedy that stole their mother/ wife.

My only proble with this whole story was all f the explicit sex scenes. The first half of this story was somewhat clean, but from then on it was one long sex scene after another. Sometimes they went on for more than a chapter and a half. I would have loved to see more dialogue between these two, or at least more meaningful story lines, that all the cluttered sex scenes. I'm not a prude, but come on....two or even three sex scenes are okay, but over and over again....that's just way to much. Honestly....I actually got bored and started skipping through those parts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dani gets her man...

I'm reading this series a bit out of order. So far, I like the movie star and the lumberjack the best!!! This is a standalone read with a HEA. All of the stories have side characters that either already have a book or have a book to read next. This story is about Dani, the only girl in a large family of boys and Jake, another family of boys. A small town where everyone is either kin or knows one another, he is a local contractor. Dani is 8 years young than him and it seems it is a problem for most of the families. It is sort of funny that the men all have pretty wild reputations regarding women but yet they each seem to have a problem with the other guys doing the same thing!! I guess men are just weird that way when it comes to their sister being wooed by a best friend.

Dani has had a crush on Jake since she was a teen. Being 8 years older he was too old to be having feelings for her but he did. He kept those feelings to himself since he felt he was too old for her as well. The time has come when age is no longer an issue. She wants him and lets him know in no uncertain terms just how she feels. He still holds back. There is a lot of back and forth before these two get on the same page but when they do they burn up the sheets.

They are both a bit leery about letting all the family members know they are serious about one another so they keep their love to themselves until he gets tired of being a secret. Being older he is ready to get on with his life and doesn't want to stay hidden away. Of course there is a little drama before they get to their HEA. It is a very good story and I definitely recommend it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/7/17

I loved Jake and Dani. They both have had feelings for one another since they were young, but being that Jake is older, he never thought they'd be together because of their families - especially Dani's brothers. However, Dani doesn't care and is up front with Jake that she is now a woman and he should see her as one. FINALLY, Jake caves. Their love for each other is so strong and special, especially with the unexpected twist. And Jake, I loved how protective he was of Dani and would let no one or anything come between them. This was a great read, and I especially loved the bonus story. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Thank you so much Ms. York for your words. I look forward to read more from you.

Super cute. Just wish they hadn’t waited so long. He waited because he felt she was too young for him and his best friends baby sister. Then she seemed to push him off the last two years. Finally they come together. And honestly I can see where he is coming from feeling slightly used but her I want to revel in the sec phase is great if you haven’t been pining away for the last 8 years. So both were reasonable and not. Poor Ryan. Can’t wait for his book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, light read

Love in a Snowstorm is a good, light, fun read. There isn't much in the way of real drama, or, if I'm being, depth. I have read Love in a Sandstorm, which I loved. There was more depth to characters, and I appreciated the care that the author tackled some very sensitive subjects. It made me like Love in a Sandstorm that much more. Love in a Snowstorm had none of that depth. It's a good book, but not what I expected after having read the other book. I'm giving it 4 stars, because I really have no complaints about the writing. I just wish it had been more like Love in a Sandstorm.

I have read books out of order before and not had the problems I had with this one. I made the mistake of reading this book two without reading the first in the series. Big mistake. I had no idea who the multitude of other characters were and I was lost a lot of the time. I'm thinking that with that many characters (and there were a lot), this may be a second series as well. I didn't like the book enough to find out. There were some tension and/or angst moments that were immediately resolved. I guess that was so the author could throw in another sex scene. Could have been so much better.

While both Jake and Dani were likable characters, this book didn't grab me like the first one in the series. The 8 year age difference is of course problematic when Dani was 18, not so much when she's 25, so the drama about it was a little over the top.

It basically came down to a communication issue. Both Dani and Jake were on the same page as far as the relationship went, they were just afraid to speak about it to each other. The situation with Tasha was handled maturely, I'm glad it didn't turn into chaos.

I liked seeing Rafe and Liv from the first book, and going into more detail about the shooting that happened at the end of that book. It affected the whole town so it was good to see people supporting each other through it.
