How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsIf This Doesn't Bring This Part To An End, I Write My Own Ending
Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2017
The second book or part of the story takes us further into the story of life of Calpurnia and her cousin Isla as seen through Carrie Jo's dreams.
We also discover who the murderer is. Or so it seems.

I like the fact that it's easy to differentiate between present and past. I like the people who recognize that the house haunted by sadness and hopelessness and not necessarily ghosts.

I do hope this is the last book to conclude this story. I don't mind a series but having to buy more than three books is a bit much.

3.0 out of 5 starsI enjoyed the first book in this series
Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2015
I enjoyed the first book in this series, which is why I purchased this book and will also read the third and final book when it is released. There is one thing that prevented me from giving this a five star review. The trilogy is really a single book, split into three sections of about 150 pages each. Although book one was a free download, I felt duped into paying for books 2 and 3 just to finish the story. Rather than a series, or a sequel, each of the first two books ends abruptly in the middle of the story. All three books really make up a single narrative: sort of a blatant attempt to get paid for three books when you really only wrote one. I feel the author should be honest about this, and Amazon should be careful to publish only complete books unless they warn the consumer before purchasing. Had this been published in a single volume, I would gladly have bought future works by this author, but under the circumstance, I will pass on future writings of hers. Too bad, because see knows how to create an interesting story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never Ending Serial money pit
Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2018

I HATE when an author uses a bait and switch in promoting their "Books" This is not a series it is a serial Each "book" is actually 1/7th of a book. There really isn't even a cliffhanger it just stops and if you get the next part it resumes right where it left off in the previous part. I happen to be a ebook hoarder and had 2 parts of Seven Sisters and the first installment of the second "series" The Idlewood. Since there was no where on the info page that this was a serial I thought I had complete books. I happened to start with Part one of the Idlewood. I didn't get every far when I realized that I was missing a bunch of stuff when they were talking about the Seven sisters. So I stopped that part and when to part one of the Seven Sisters. One of the biggest mysteries in this first part is what happened to Calpurnia. Guess what you won't find out in those 7 books you bought. Because they tell you in the next series. That is just wrong! So this author is just going to suck you along doling out bits and pieces making you pay more and more. NO NOT HAPPENING! I wish that Amazon would put a stop to this practice or at least make the author not use the work book and put in the info page that this is a serial. Some people like serials I am not one of them. I don't want to pay 25.00 or more to get a completion of a story. To the author you have a good story you don't need to use subterfuge to sell your book.If its good I have no problem buying the next COMPLETE (beginning, middle and End) book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Silly, amateurish and a cliffhanger!

Amateur writing and stops with a complete cliffhanger, almost in the middle of a sentence! I read book one which also stopped with a cliffhanger. I use the word STOPPED because ended would be too gentle a word. I should have known better than to read the second book as the writing is rather amateurish and did not improve in book two. Authors should write complete books that are interesting enough to hold your attention and make you want to read the next one. Not try to trick you into continuing. Did I mention that I HATE cliff hangers?

1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious, oh so tedious....
Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2017

The Internet is both a blessing and a curse. Self publishing allows those with talent to get a start. It also allows those with no talent a forum from which to bore us to death. Ms. Bullock is yet one more member of that cadre of writers - as opposed to true authors - who do not seem to understand that there is a difference between a novel and soap opera / episodic television. A novel has a plot and an ending. To write a novel requires skill and talent. Ms. Bullock, and her fellow members of the 'story a week club' take the easy way out. There is never an ending, never a resolution. There is simply an ongoing chain of 'to be continued' episodes that require one to wade through yet one more tedious offering in a futile quest for 'The End'.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a complete book - no ending
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2016

There is no climax or conclusion at the end of this book. It is simply incomplete. The perpetrator isn't caught, or even proven guilty for that matter. The mystery isn't solved. The treasure isn't found.

Randomly cutting a single novel into pieces does NOT create a trilogy, or a series as there seem to be more than three installments here. Each novel in a series should have a minor story arc that is resolved and that feeds into the larger series story arc. This is not rocket science.

Add to the above that the author desperately needs to take a writing class and hire a competent editor, and this "book" is seriously irritating.

I won't be reading the rest. God only knows when the poor readers will find out how the story ends.

2.0 out of 5 stars Book 1 and 2 barely make one

It is great marketing, but I felt like I was reading novel in a magazine, a few chapters per issue. I prefer to finish a story.
When will books 3,4,5 and so on
appear?
No matter by then I would have forgotten the story existed.
I would have liked to have an ending.

3.0 out of 5 stars Again, not a full book
Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2019

Since I got it for free I guess I have no right to object. But anyway, if it is said it is a novel, a full novel then it should be a full one, not just a few chapters which end with a cliffhanger.
The first book I read had the same problem, and I thought it will get better in a second book, but I was wrong. I guess it is the style of writing, not a mistake to cut the book far from some logical end and continue the story in the next book.
I'm giving this book, or better to say, those chapters 3 stars because I like old houses and because I like the idea which the author tried to achieve. The main problem is that "show don't tell" is not taken very seriously here and that most of the mystery solving were happening by having a dream about it and that's it. The reader gets a long chapter about the main character dreaming and the mystery is solved.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful

Why this book needs more than one volume is beyond me. They are extremely short. I guess to sell more books.
The writing and the story seem rather juvenile to me. I found this book extremely boring. I can't take another volume to see what's going to happen. I really don't care. I'm never this critical, but jeez.
Another problem is the format of this book. I mean, who starts a new paragraph with a double space instead of an indentation. I may be nitpicking, but I found it annoying.
Sorry about that. I can not recommend this book. Maybe you can.

1.0 out of 5 stars I bought the rest of the books hoping they would shed some light on this one but it was just further disappointment.

This book is awful. It is poorly written. The scenes jump around with little to no segues. Characters are 2 dimensional and cookie cutter. I bought the rest of the books hoping they would shed some light on this one but it was just further disappointment.
