I’m always looking for fun ways to up my French and the adventures of Nicholas are so charming! Love having French material on the Kindle so I can look up unfamiliar words effortlessly. The Bing translation could be better, but it’s better than the paper dictionary I started learning French with years ago. Amazon has a huge opportunity to provide language learners with authentic, enjoyable materials and I wish more was available on the Kindle!
Sempe does it again keeping you completely entertained about Nicholas, an eight-year-old boy whose adventures are very amusing. The mindset of Nicholas is so entertaining he will keep you laughing for days. Sempe does a superb job describing daily events from an eight year old's perspective.
There are two things one can always expect from the series of "Le Petit Nicolas" books. To begin with they are always funny. And they are always easy to read --for any student of French. "Les Récrés du Petit Nicolas" couldn't be different.
This time round we meet the little garçon in his school break. So there is always a game, a conversation, something going on. They may fight, play soccer or take photos, but every time it will end up in confusion.
Goscinny found his perfect partner in crime in the illustrator Sémpe. The drawings are always exceptional and funny -- as much as the text. With his boyish mind, Nicholas never fails to make us laugh and learn French. The more you read the book, the more you want to read the other volumes.
Even though I am no longer a kid, I enjoyed reading this story about Le Petit Nicolas and his friends. The characters are very lively and entertaining. The new vocabulary learnt was very useful. This is a great book for anyone whether you are an advanced beginner, intermediate or an advanced French student. I won't recommend this for a first year beginning French student though. The vocabulary can be a bit challenging for a 1st year French student. I can't wait to read the other series of Le Petit Nicolas.
