I've had this grip for a day now so this is just a first impressions review.
(will update if I have any major changes in opinion after long-time use)
-It looks nice and simple- blends in nicely with the black vita.
-It doesn't add a lot of weight.
-It's pretty nice of a grip for medium-large hands.
-Everything is easy to access & reach EXCEPT for the back touch plate. (personally- The rounded shape of the grip makes it a little awkward for my finger to reach the back plate. might need getting used to)
-Pretty easy to snap on & take off.
-There's a little hidden kickstand thing on either side of the grips.
Why wasn't this in the product details? I feel like it's a cool plus.
I was actually very close to buying a vita stand but now I don't need to.
-The biggest thing that bothers me so far is that the shape of the grip will make the vita's screen lay away from me when left on a surface. (shown in pic) It just feels wrong..
-The stand legs are a little fussy to take out. They need to be pushed in with the tip of your nails then pulled out from the back.
-It works, but is also not the best stand. It needs to be on a pretty level surface & on a hard surface. (will not work on a bed) Or else the weight distribution of the system & the grip will make it fall back. Even when standing up on a stable surface like the desk, if the top of the vita is pushed ever so slightly, it will definitely fall.
Anyway, since I bought this thinking this was only a grip, I'm not really considering the stand into the rating.
I've played a button mashing type of game for a few hours and the grip definitely gives a more natural hold for the hands- so it passes as a grip.
I feel like something could've been added to either side of the rear camera without getting in the way of anything, so that the system can lay flat on the table. But I can see how that could make it look unattractive. I would've chosen practicality over the looks though..
Overall nice item!
