My Grandson is SO into Football(New England Patriots) and now he is telling his Grandfathers all the info about football that is in this book, driving us nuts but it is helping with his reading skills. Thank You, Mary Wodarski

Bonding time with my 6 year old son! He loves it every bedtime! Thank you!
He’s normally a baseball fanatic (Go Nats!) so when he checked this book out at his school library, I was intrigued. The first night we read Super Bowl XLII (Tyree Helmet Catch) and then the next night Super Bowl X (Steelers over Cowboys I). Now each night he races to finish his homework (! - yes homework in first grade, but it used to be a hassle) so he can get more than bedtime with the “Super Bowl book!”
We visited Canton on a road trip this summer and football was still a bit foreign to him. Now he talks incessantly about Purple People Eaters, Steel Curtain, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning (at least not Brady!).
Even though I read the chapters to him now, I can tell as his reading improves he will read this on his own, so I just bought our own copy. And, knowing Howard Bryant from ESPN and NPR, I went ahead and got the Legends for baseball too!

The great thing for me about Howards Bryant's new book in the LEGENDS series is that he allow us to not just see the game of Football but the individuals whose greatness has been shown through it.
From beginning to end---especially with his own personal story, Bryant reminds us that it's more than just a game. It's a way for individuals to learn, grow and work together for a common goal and purpose. Along the way they are not just able to showcase their own skills but elevate a team, a city and a group of individuals around the world.
Through highlighting the success of some teams and individuals Bryant also challenges what it means to win and lose. Another great reminder for us in this game called life.
I learned so much in this book not just about the game but the heart of the players and how individuals rallied around them to help motivate them to victory. I also gained a new appreciation for what it takes to start anything, never knowing where it might lead.
Howard Bryant's LEGENDS reminds us all of our ability to be great, and encourages us to pursue that ability in every way possible.
