5.0 out of 5 starsCame for "The Grove," stayed for "Vessel" - YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit it. I am cyber pals with one the authors. She told me she submitted a story for this, and I immediately bought it. Boy howdy, has it changed my life!! I now have a SLEW of new authors I'm thoroughly loving! "The Grove," by Jennifer Foehner Wells brought me in, and delivered SUPERBLY, but I think the most captivating story for me was "Vessel" by Samuel Peralta. The elegance of his prose left me breathless. The idea behind the "alien" kept me pondering for days. I've brought that idea up in conversations with people over and over ever since. I love every one of the stories in this book, and am so thrilled I have been introduced to whole new authors and whole new worlds I never would have found if a friendship hadn't nudged me in this direction. I've since acquired all the "Future Chronicles" books and find the same high caliber of writing, and endless enjoyment. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!

Can't say I regret the time spent. In fact one of the stories stopped me cold and I subsequently purchased her book series connected to her contribution. Short story fiction is incredibly difficult. To have a compelling tale and get it across crisply is something many writers just cannot do. There are a few gems in here. Just my two cents.

I love the Chronicles anthology series, and this is no exception. There's a variety of stories here, most at least above-average, with some being gems. The best are "Guest of the Chitterer Liberation Force," "Trials," "The Grove," and "Second Suicide." The last is my personal favorite, with an excellent '90's Outer Limits' style twist ending.

I also enjoyed "Uncle Allen," "Crawlies" and "Alien Space Tentacle Porn." I like these authors' writing styles and will keep an eye out for their other work.

"318" also deserves recognition: It's very dark, very well wrtten. But there's no aliens in it, so it seems an odd choice for the anthology.

I high recommend this anthology and look forward to reading others of the series.

I finally read this last week. It's been lounging about on my Kindle for sometime, and I'd forgotten it. I've been pushed for time lately, so I sorted through my Kindle looking for short things to read, and found his book, again. It turned out to be just what I needed. None of the stories are too long to read in a single sitting. I loved four or five of them. Of the rest, only two were not to my taste, and the rest were pretty good.

I remember that I bought this anthology because a few of these authors are familiar to me, and I always like their work. They did not disappoint me. But I was surprised that my favorite of the bunch is a story by an author I've never heard of before now. I loved Crawlies, by Annie Bellet. That story had all the SF elements I enjoy the most, stuffed into a short story and flavored with the best kind of humor.

I enjoyed the greater majority of the stories, and I have a new author to stalk. Ahem, just kidding. Anyway, I'm glad I remembered to read this.

I really enjoyed this collection of stories. To be honest I wasn't sure I was going to get into another short story book as my last experience was not very good. That said this is the first time in quite awhile that each story captured my attention: scary, funny, thought-provoking, exciting. I especially enjoyed reading the personal insight that each author provided at the end of their work. Awesome! It just seems so much more personal reading their motivations and inspirations. I plan on buying the other books in this Chronicles series as well as try some of the different author's own novels. Highly recommend!

WOW! This was such a fun book to read, the different take and angles from each author was so fun and so interesting that I wished some stories were much longer. I really really enjoy books like this, it keeps the entire story fresh and keep you wanting more.

Some of the stories gave me the chills, especially about the ones where the invade and take over planets, that gave me the chills.

If you like sci-fi and a varying collection of authors in a single book, you should definitely get this book!

The Future Chronicles series is a fantastic grouping of short stories. The Alien Chronicles continues that with another set of thoughtful short stories.

They range from comic, to intensely reflective. From very short, a few crisp pages - to longer, not novella length even, but a nice light lunch.

The quality is there as usual - well written and edited. The point of view is always interesting, especially if humanity is involved.

Definitely recommended! :)

As this is a collection of stories, written by various authors, it's impossible to make one of the above categories fit all the short stories in here. Over all, I liked it. At least the first half, but not so much the last. This, of course, is a personal viewpoint. Some of the stories I really liked, some I didn't like at all - it's a personal thing. Some of you may love all of them and some hate them. But there are some great short sci-fi stories in here and I think I can safely say there's something for everyone.

Although most of the possibilities are not necessarily impossible, but the writers of several different stories found the most unlikely and possibly humorous way to make sure that the story is not totally impossible. I was impressed with the many extremely unexpected twists and turns in this series of stories about the humans and aliens and the different ways that we and they might possibly do with the different situations that they could possibly be faced with in this series.

"Anthologies" can be an interesting means of finding new authors for a reader to follow. This book is no exception. At the conclusion of each short story in this collection the writer was given an opportunity to include a page or two of their biography, books in circulation and contact information. While I found the stories to be a mixed bag (some better than others), as you might expect, several of the authors seem quite promising.
