5.0 out of 5 starsLove Jill Shalvis!!
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on October 11, 2015
5 โ€œIโ€™ve got thisโ€ stars!!

Reading a Jill Shalvis book is like eating a whole pan of brownies without the calorie guilt! you get all the good feelings with no negative effects to your thighs!!! I have never met a Jill Shalvis book I didnโ€™t like. I donโ€™t think I ever will! Her characters are chopped full of real life quirks. You never know what kind of situations her heroes or heroines will get into.

Zoe has this constant saying throughout the book and itโ€™s โ€œI got thisโ€. She has had to be everyoneโ€™s everything for so long, now that her siblings are finally on track she starts to do things for herself. First off she wants to find a man so of course the book starts off with Zoe going on a blind date with a dentist. She decides to be daring and bold and kiss the dentist after she opens the door. However itโ€™s not the dentist she kisses its her brotherโ€™s best friend Parker. She has never met Parker before this moment but Wyatt talked her into letting him stay with her while heโ€™s in town. Of course this tension between them is broken by her dog Oreo (whom I loved). Oreo doesnโ€™t like men however when Parker shows up he climbs all over him. You should always take hints from your pets about people, they are good judges of character. Not only does Zoe have to live with the incredibly attractive Parker while heโ€™s on โ€œvacationโ€ she is technically working with him by flying him over some interesting areas in Idaho. She is fighting her attraction for him. Zoe keeps repeating to herself that he isnโ€™t staying but of course her heart doesnโ€™t want to believe it. I mean seriously how is she supposed to resist a man who kisses and rescues kittens for goodness sakes. I really enjoyed Jill Shalvis throwing in the beginning with Oreo about how he rolls in bear poop. Reminds me of another dogโ€ฆ maybe Jillโ€™s dog?? that was so funny.

Parker is chasing bad guys. These bad guys do not play nice they will use anyone or anything against him. So far he has stayed pretty well hidden. His attraction to his roommate Zoe is immediate, however heโ€™s not going to let anyone distract him from catching this bad guy. Technically Parker is on leave after being run over literally by the bad guys. Heโ€™s gotten orders from higher ups that heโ€™s not to go after this guy. So as a normal stubborn man what does he doโ€ฆ. he goes after the guy. For some reason he finds himself actually being honest with Zoe. The only thing he fibs to her about is the home improvements heโ€™s doing while sheโ€™s at work. Itโ€™s so funny when she starts realizes heโ€™s doing this. Then he โ€œsavesโ€ some kittens.. big tough guy saves tiny kittens insert *swoon* here.

I really enjoyed this book, it was almost like they were a married couple before they were a couple. They lived together they worked together always around each other. They raised the dog together then the kittens. I loved how she was attempting to date while he was living with her. The old lady dress is a classic, I feel it should be like the sisterhood of the traveling pants and go to the next lucky lady in line! Parkerโ€™s sister Armory was a delight I hope she comes to visit them soon. I really hope to see this couple in the future animal magnetism books.

All of these books can be read as standalone books even though previous characters come into play. :)

A quick read with an interesting story line. The characters were realistic and likable, but the foul language was a turnoff for me. The author should have had enough faith in her story line to think that she could hold her readers attention without using offensive language.

Title: All I Want
Author: Jill Shalvis
Series: Animal Magnetism, #7
Pages: 304
Publisher: Berkley
Date: October 6, 2015

Review:

Everyone has those days (weeks?) when they want to read, but nothing appeals. For those times, you need what I call a comfort read. Thatโ€™s either a book youโ€™ve already read and loved or an author that you KNOW is going to appeal to you. For me, one of those authors is Jill Shalvis.

Iโ€™ve only been reading her books for about a year, but she has never disappointed me. Her books have romance, conflict, and humor . . . lots of humor. She is also an animal lover and her animal characters feature prominently in her books.

All I Want, the seventh book in her Animal Magnetism series, is no exception. Zoe has trust issues - serious trust issues. She has been let down by her parents and the men in her life over and over again. Parker has secrets and she refuses to let him into her life because she knows he is hiding something from her. So, of course, they end up sharing a house.

The story is great. The interactions between Zoe and Parker range from hot to hysterical and sometimes both at the same time. But it is the humor in this book that does it for me. Here are just a few examples:

Zoe and her sister Darcy are discussing what she should wear on a blind date. Darcy tells her,

โ€œAnd for Godโ€™s sake, stop taking fashion advice from a dog who rolls in bear poo and thinks he smells good.โ€

Later Zoe is lonely because both her brother and sister have moved out.

โ€œSure, she missed bossing them around as sheโ€™d been doing since the dawn of time because one, their foreign diplomat parents had never seemed to notice they had children, and two, well, Zoe kind of just loved to boss people around.โ€

But, my absolute favorite scene in the book involves Oreo, Zoeโ€™s 100-pound Bernese mountain dog and two kittens Parker is fostering. Oreo is afraid of everything, including tiny kittens and this is what happens when they are introduced.

โ€œThe tabby stalked underneath a mistrustful Oreo and stopped between the dogโ€™s legs, eyeing the long tail with a curious eye. Then the kitten crouched low, wriggled his butt, and . . . pounced.

And missed Oreoโ€™s tail by a mile.

Still Oreo cried.

โ€˜Itโ€™s okay,โ€™ Parker said. โ€˜I promise theyโ€™re not going to hurt you --โ€™

Too late. Because Oreo lifted his leg and . . . peed on them.โ€

And I lost it! I laughed until I cried and thatโ€™s the best compliment I can give a book.

Read it! Read the entire series. You wonโ€™t regret it.

This book was sent to me by NetGalley in return for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Sunshine winner....

Once again Jill brings us back to Sunshine Idaho. A simple place but complicated one for the Stone siblings. Do to their parents inability to be bothered with raising them, they were raised by their grandparents and grew to love this town Wyatt and Darcy found their HEA which left Zoe. Zoe was always the caretaker when they were on their adventures with their parents (because they couldn't be bothered) she was the one that made sure everything was done and correct. She went off while her grandparents helped with Wyatt and Darcy and got her pilots license traveled a little but ended up back in Sunshine. She took care of everything when her grandparents passed away since her parents couldn't be bothered coming or taking care of anything. Once Wyatt and Darcy found the HEA she was all alone in their grandparents house. Too proud and strong to ask for help she was determined to fix everything on her own. She felt she owed it to her siblings because she lost their money when she was scammed by someone that she thought loved her. Hence the walls around her heart. Growing tired of being alone she agrees to try some blind dates at the urging of Darcy. Wyatt's friend Parker is coming to town for some vacation/recovery and is going to be staying with Zoe. Zoe did this as a favor for Wyatt because he had no room in his house. Parker arrives and Zoe thinks it is her blind date and she listens to Darcy and gives him a kiss to say hello only to find out that Parker is Wyatt's friend and NOT her blind date. She was stood up by her blind date. Their is instant chemistry between Parker and Zoe. Also chemistry with Zoe's lumpy dog Oreo who does not like men takes right to him. Chemistry that they both try and ignore because Zoe is looking for HEA with the white fence and the 2.5 kids while Parker is married to his job and feels he cannot get involved with anyone that might become in danger because of his job. They then decide that as long as he is there they can be friends with benefits. That works for about 2 seconds because they both have fallen but refused to admit it. As with all Jill's books there is some type of suspense involved and this was no different. There was many LOL moments with this book and after the suspense is gone and Parker leaves Zoe is determined to move on that she can do this. Parker is gone for a week and returns while Zoe is getting ready for her first date after him. I won't say anymore cause I feel I have spoiled it enough. Read this series you will laugh, cry and hold your breath with each book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love can turn want into need.

I started All I Want at 5:30 this morning, with hubby sleeping peacefully beside me. It's my quiet reading time before I start the day...well it's normally quiet. The beginning was funny and I was struggling to keep my giggles quiet, which then turned into snorts, which then turned into hiccups. So my quiet reading time didn't end up so quiet after all. At least I started my day with a big smile on my face.

Zoe meets Parker when she practically throws herself at him. Zoe is a pilot struggling to refurb the old family home, pay off her study debts and give herself a life. Up till now her brother and sister were her main focus, but with them moving out and finding their own HEA's, Zoe realises she needs to make some changes. First change, she wants to go on dates.

Timing is everything and Parker realises it when a beautiful woman throws herself at him. Wyatt, Zoe's brother and Parker's mate has teed up for him to stay with her while he's on a break from work. Work is his life, but Zoe would make a great distraction. Parker has been forced to take time off work when one of his cases goes bad and a fellow officer is killed. His work involves chasing down poachers and traffickers of wild and nearly extinct animals. He finds it too hard to completely shut off from work.

These two have great chemistry that they try to deny. Parker doesn't want to hurt Zoe, but knows a relationship won't work because of his job. Zoe is hesitant, because she's had bad relationships because of lies and she knows Parker has secrets. Eventually they succumb...and they are HOT together.

Both Zoe and Parker have some family issues. I do not like Zoe's parents at all. Parker's family issues show us a side to Parker that was very sweet. It made me like him even more.

This was another great Jill Shalvis story with lovable characters and a sweet storyline. These are not hard books to read. They flow so smoothly, with no angst filled plots to make you pull your hair out. A comfort read, a sweet read and a returning home type of read that left me smiling.

5.0 out of 5 stars There's a nekid man in her shower!!! A gorgeous nekid man.

Zoe has been the protector of the family for years. Her brother and sister have found love and now it's her time. But Zoe doesn't know how to live for herself. She has the dog and the house that needs copious amounts of TLC, now she wants the husband and kids to complete the picture. She just isn't sure how to go about accomplishing these things. She has signed up for on-line dating and has let it be known that she's looking, but somehow she keeps veering off track.
Parker is a special agent looking for bad guys who poach and kill exotic and big game. He is coming to Sunshine to rest and re-cooperate from a near fatal altercation with a criminal and a large truck. Since Parker and Wyatt, Zoe's brother, are good friends, Zoe has agreed to rent a room to Parker for a week or so. Parker arrives when Zoe's blind date is due. On the urging of her sister Darcy, Zoe greets her "date" at the door with a kiss. Much to her mortification, the guy she kisses isn't her date, but her renter.
The high-jinx continue throughout the novel. There is a giant dog names Oreo who "adopts" 2 kittens. There are bad guys. Parker is often in trouble with his boss because he is interfering with an on-going investigation, and Parker's interactions with his sweet and innocent sister Amory are panty-melting. As much as Zoe would love to see Parker in a negative way, she just can't. The fact that the first morning Zoe saw Parker nekid in the shower doesn't help her put things into perspective either. She's hungry and there is a delicious man living in her house.

4.0 out of 5 stars All I Wanted and Needed

I can always count on a Jill Shalvis book to cheer me up when I'm going through difficult times. 'All I Want' wasn't the exception and really, it was all I wanted and needed. I loved it.

Zoe aka Mama Bear aka Wyatt (Then Came You) and Darcy's (Still The One) old sister finally gets her chance to meet the One aka Parker aka the mysterious (not really) guy who is also H-O-T and adorable and kind and loyal and just perfect for her. Of course, Zoe is also perfect for him and together they're perfect and sweet and funny, especially funny, I laughed throughout the book with these two.

I'm all for stories where the hero and heroine are strangers and have to live together because they get to know each other even more than by just going out on dates. Of course it can sometimes be awkward but in this case, Jill made a fantastic job. I enjoyed every happy, sad, scary, and sexy moment between them.

And because this is part of the Animal Magnetism series, we can't forget the amazing animals that become an essential part to the story: Oreo (the dog), and Bonnie and Clyde (the cats) were simply wonderful.

Only complaint: Wish I could've seen Zoe interacting more with Wyatt and Darcy. I missed the family moments we got in Wyatt's book.

**OVERALL:

'All I Want' is another winner from Jill Shalvis and a fantastic addition to the series. Zoe and Parker will make you laugh and fall in love with them and their story.

A must-read book for lovers of sexy, hilarious, sweet and healthy romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zoe and Parker are the best!

From the very start, this book had me laughing -- totally embarrassed myself as I was on an airplane. And the laughs didn't stop there... As usual, Ms. Shalvis gave us a great story that I had trouble putting down. If it wasn't for that plane landing thing, I would have read straight thru.

I've had this book on my TBR shelf for a while however it got "lost" during some renovations. So happy I "found" it again and went back to Sunshine, Idaho! Loved Zoe Stone, although sometimes I wanted to shake her because she was in her own head so much but she is warm and kind and loving and always there to help her family...or anyone else for that matter. Enter a friend of her brother, Parker James, and the laughs begin, at least for me. Parker, too, has tons of baggage but he is the type of guy who comes thru for his family and friends as well. Both of these characters have trust issues but they really do make a great team. And the animals in this story? OMG, they are a hoot!

Loved the story! So happy to have had it waiting for me to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Zoe & Parker

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - Jill Shalvis is one of those amazing writers who doesn't throw a bunch of angst into her stories - just good clean fun! Actually not that clean, a bit dirty at times, just the right amount of sexiness. Zoe is all alone in her big house after her siblings Wyatt & Darcy have moved out. She is going to try to go on some dates & mistakes Wyatt's friend Parker for one of her blind dates - and kisses him right at the door! They have chemistry in spades, even when they try to keep their distance & remain just friends. What I loved about Zoe was her ability to admit how seriously she wants Parker & gives in to their chemistry, no apologies. She knows his job as a fish & wildlife agent is going to take him away from her soon but why not give herself some wonderful memories? Parker takes in two kitties from a next door neighbor so he has this alpha male presence but he is also a big softy. He anonymously fixes odd things around Zoe's house which is also super sweet. Not much drama, not much of a story either but two very loveable hot characters & a nice weekend read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Loved Zoe and Parker.

Totally loved this book. Zoe is my idol. Strong, stubborn yet vulnerable. She thinks she has to do everything herself and take care of everyobe as well. She loves being a pilot and loves her family. So when both her younger siblings move out with their significant others she starts to feel the empty nest syndrome. And she could also use extra money to help with her debts and her fixer upper house. So she takes in her brothers friend as a renter and things get very interesting.

Parker has been working hard to bring down a big time poacher and is suppose to be on vacation yet he is tracking a lead to find this bad guy. When he needs a place to stay he takes his friend Wyatt up on staying with his sister. He notices that Zoe trys to fix things around the house but she is not very handy. So after she leaves or goes to bed he decides to help out by fixing things around the house to help her out.

The banter between these two is sexy and down right fun. They heat up the pages both in and out of the bedroom. A great read..

Every minute spent reading a Jill Shalvis book multiplies into hours of reading pleasure and before you know it, you've fallen in love with her beautifully written two legged and four legged characters! Her dialogue is written with a witty and clever hand and the way she builds relationships is in a class by itself.

I love Parker and Zoe's vulnerabilities and what they are able to bring to each other in a magnificently substantive way. Parker's protective love for his sister and Zoe's feelings about her own family, align them in a similar fashion. While they may fight against their instant attraction, there is no way to hold back the passion between them. With Parker in Sunshine, Idaho on a secret mission, he cannot afford to get emotionally close to anyone, much less his best friend's sister. But, the best laid plans .......

This is an amazing series and each book can be read as a stand-alone. These stories are so much fun that I'm going back to re-read them again. Kudos to one of the best authors in contemporary romance!
