I have serious doubts as to whether this is an authentic Casio product. It arrived in typical heat welded clamshell packaging. My daughter couldn't open it so she gave it to me. I have worked in consumer products for 30 years and I have never come across packaging like this. A thick hard clamshell package, heat welded, and then reinforced with plastic rivets. First, scissors would not cut through it. i created a small opening and try to rip it apart from there . . . no way! Then I used a box cutter to no avail. The plastic is so thick and fractures, I though I was going to cut myself.
Finally, I used a hacksaw and of course destroyed the literature in the process The plastic didn't tear or cut, it fractured. If you try to pull it apart it would break into shards like glass. It literally took me 20 minutes to open. I understand theft deterrence but have never seen an American product packaged this way,. I have battled with CD's, and kids toys wired like a prison fence, but this was like breaking into Fort Knox. I have seen similar bad packaging with Chinese knock-offs who never get everything 100% right. That being said, just because it may be a knock off doesn't mean it doesn't work. I have my doubts but my daughter needs it urgently so I am giving it a week and any malfunction and this baby is going right back. If I am wrong and this is an authentic Casio product they need to seriously reevaluate their packaging. This is not a $1000 Iphone and shouldn't cause more frustration opening it than the product is worth. I will update this if I do make a return.
