5.0 out of 5 starsCamp chair comparison!
Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2019
When searching for a quality camp chair, I kept going back and forth between these two.

First, I ordered the chair on the left by EA "Ever Advanced". I'm 5'1" and 165 lbs. and wanted a sturdy but easy to carry camp chair. The EA chair has a higher back and since I'm short, it definitely supported my head with room to spare when I leaned back. This chair advertises "lumbar support" and it's well made with a padded back and seat, but the reason why it gives you lumbar support is because it's a sling chair...your own weight molds the seating to your back. It has one cup holder, soda can sized, that is thickly insulated and one large open pocket on the right side for your phone and keys; no zipper closure. The pocket is sewn of both fabric and mesh. The armrests are padded and comfortable and they are height-adjustable. The chair doesn't have an attached strap but there is one on the carry bag. The chair weighs 8.5 lbs and supports up to 300 lbs.

I was a bit unhappy that the sling-style EA chair was a little difficult to get out of. My older knees sometimes need a firmer seat to help with standing.

So, I ordered the "Dual Lock" camp chair on the right by Kijaro. This chair locks open and the seat is very firm. Easy to rise out of. Again, my short height enabled my head to be supported when I leaned back. Taller folks won't have a head rest. The chair also locks when closed. Not tightly closed, but enough so that when I threw the chair's built-in strap over my shoulder in order to carry it without putting it back into its bag, the chair didn't fully open. This chair weighs 1 lb. heavier than the EA chair but honestly, I didn't notice the difference between the two when I had them over my shoulder. The Kijaro chair also supports up to 300 lbs.

The Kijaro chair's back has a slight lean-back angle to it; it's not a straight-backed chair. I might tuck a rolled hand towel behind my back if I feel the need for lumbar support.

The Kijaro chair has two cup holders made of plastic mesh. Not sure how sturdy they will prove to be. One is soda can-sized and the other one is slightly larger and would hold a no-handle-style, cylindrical travel coffee mug or a Starbucks frap drink cup. There is a very nice pocket to hold your gear on the right side of the chair; it's a little hard to see in the pic. It's sewn of fabric and mesh, and has a zippered main compartment as well as two open pockets on the outer face that are cell phone-sized. I really like the zippered pocket; a great idea for keys and other small items that you dare not lose. I also like the thick, reinforced binding along the edges of this chair and the pocket. Decorative as well as durable. Love the turquoise color!

Both camp chairs are well made. The EA chair has more padding; the Kijaro chair is a firmer sit. Both chairs were comfortable on the back of the thighs; no pinching. They both have comfy, padded arm supports and the seats were both wide enough that I had room to spare.

The EA chair has a carry bag made of softer nylon material and the end where the feet go is padded. The Kijaro chair's carry bag is made of a stiffer nylon material with no padding at the feet end of the bag. They close with locking drawstrings. Both carry bags have shoulder straps.

Because of all of the nice padding, the EA chair is more difficult to put into its bag.
The Kijaro chair has less padding to fold up and also has that lock-closed feature which helps when putting it back into the carry bag.

Both chairs have non-breathable seating surfaces but the Kijaro chair has a mesh back for air circulation while the EA chair does not. Bring a terry towel to sit on to keep your fanny dry!

I hope that this comparison is helpful as you search for the perfect camp chair. Personally, the Kijaro chair wins over the EA chair.

3.0 out of 5 starsSome design flaws
Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2018
After reading about the rivets breaking and nuts/bolts being loose, I opened the chair and carefully sat down on it. It didn't break and was comfortable.
However, there was a loose nut and bolt on one of the legs of the chair which I tightened. (quality control issues)
As an engineer, I can say that there are design flaws that need to be addressed. The metal poles that connect to the legs and hold the weight of a person are attached by a small, thin piece of L shaped metal that's held together by the lock nut and bolt. I cannot see this L shaped piece of metal lasting very long due to its thinness and the amount of force on it. I can definitely see the chair breaking should someone sit down on it hard or after repeated use.
So, while comfortable and at a better height than most collapsible chairs, the designers still have some work to do to improve it.

3.0 out of 5 stars If you are 5'7" or less, the chair height may be too high
Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2021
Color: Cayman Blue IguanaVerified Purchase
I teach outdoors and have used a lot of hiking and camping equipment. I was looking for a foldable & sturdy chair to carry a short distance (mile or less) from a vehicle. I am 5' 7" and relatively strong, but have bad knees and don't like to extend my legs sitting. In this chair, with my knees bent at 90 degrees against the fabric seat edge, feet do not rest on the ground. If I sit all the way back to get full back support, my feet swing above the ground. This should be labeled a TALL chair for proper ergonomic fit. Also, it is much heavier than other chairs I have had, and the carry strap is a joke, uncomfortable at best for the chair weight. Some padding or a wider strap are needed for regular carry use. Also, I weigh 180 pounds and notice a pull of fabric against metal edges, so I don't know how it would wear with more weight. Overall, not what I was hoping for at average female height and build.

3.0 out of 5 stars “The one” for comfort, but all the bolts broke
Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2021
Color: Hallett Peak GrayVerified Purchase
Updated review: I lowered the chair from 5 stars to 3 stars. For the price, it should have lasted longer. I can see people giving it a 1 star, but I still think it's a good chair except for one majorly important thing....all the bolts have broken. I admit I use the chair more than the regular user, but I am not overly heavy and am careful sitting down. The chair lasted the first 6 month work season without anything breaking. During the second season, the bolts all broke, one by one, as I was sitting in it. I never knew when it would suddenly collapse! I was determined to keep this chair rather than replace it, due to the amount of money I spent on it. It is also a good height and easier than others to get in and out of. It has 2 cupholders, too.

I repaired the chair myself every time a bolt broke. I used strong machine screws with nuts. If you end up doing this, know that you will need two different lengths. I wish I had just replaced them all to begin with because some of them would bend before breaking so the chair was misaligned. They are not easy to just remove before they break. Now that I have replaced the bolts with appropriate hardware, it's a good chair. For this price point, they should use good hardware to begin with.

I kept my bag of screws and nuts in the little storage compartment under the chair, so every time one broke, I could replace it with the better hardware.

Original review:
I use these chairs waaay more than normal use. I work at a campground where we can either sit in a little hut, or sit outside next to the lake. There is not a lot of actual work to do and I’m there for 10-12 hour shifts. So I sit in my chair and read books. You have to bring your own chair, regardless of if you sit inside or outside. So obviously it better be comfortable!!! And it better not break or fall apart quickly. I just used this chair for a whole season (6 months) and it is still good for next season. Previous other chairs have lasted 2-8 months and this is the most expensive one I’ve tried.
It is comfortable and sturdy. You don’t sink into it and have a hard time getting up. A lot of my job is having to stand up after I just sat down haha so I need to be able to actually get out of the chair if you know what I mean.
The folding lock, I really wanted, because I have to carry it to and from my truck to the job site each day and those carrying bags are too annoying to deal with. At first, I just could not get it to lock. After a couple months it finally broke in or something and started lining up right to lock. Not sure if that was me, or the chair.
I like the mesh because sometimes I’m sitting there in 90+ degrees all day

I looked at a lot of chairs, sat in tons at stores, and decided to risk getting one I hadn’t sat in. I am a chair Goldilocks so trust me when I say this was a great choice.
By the way, I’m 5’5’ about 175lbs

I would gladly buy this chair again

3.0 out of 5 stars Broke after moderate use
Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2017

We initially thought these were the best chairs since sliced bread. They seemed sturdy and you didn't sink down into them, supporting your body better. After almost a year of moderate use (use 2-4 times per week for soccer and track practices/games), three of the four chairs that we bought have had problems with the hardware that connect the cross bars to the main supports. We've tried different nuts/bolts to put in to make them work, but they just don't seem to work. So disappointing.

Edited to add: I contacted Kijaro directly and they replaced the chairs very quickly. I didn't have to send them the old ones...they just asked where the fail points were located on the chairs.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, sans cup holders
Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2018
Color: Cayman Blue IguanaVerified Purchase
It's huge; good for ankle-on-knee leg grossing, but bad for portability. It's heavy; gonna be sturdy, but cumbersome to move. I like this chair and I don't. I'm 5'11" 220 and this chair could be smaller and just as comfortable. When folded in the bag it's almost 4 feet long. The included bag is nice but the shoulder strap is useless as the weight is always off to one side and the bag swings around forcing you to brace it with your hand, making it difficult to cary anything else, thereby negating the reason for a shoulder strap, to have free hands.

The little pocket organizer on the side of seat, who are we kidding, it's never gonna get used. Out of sight out of mind.

I bought this chair because it looked strong and it had two cuphoders, one of which has broken after about an hour or two of use, the threads at the cup holder base just gave out. The cup holder bezels are very cheap and the edges are sharp.

The lean to the seat back is probably the best feature, the mesh is nice and cool. The arms angle outward from the seat back allowing leg crossing but the arms are too far away for comfort, the arms are shaped and angled much like an Adirondack, for laying out in the sun I guess.

Overall I can tell some things were skimped on but there are redeeming things like I can feel rubber caps at the end of the metal frame, inside the fabric. I can tell that the frame/fabric junctions are likely not going to be the ultimate fail point as is typical for this style chair. The chair is very sturdy and doesn't flex at all with my 220 pounds shifting around. The feet are a nice and durable hard plastic that won't scratch indoors but should hold up outdoors.

Overall I'm still looking for the perfect portable chair and I'll likely have to spend more money for a higher quality product

3.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to love this chair

I really wanted to love this chair. I did several searches on the internet to find the best camping chair, and this was what I found. I like the design, and the chair is comfortable. However, for the price, the quality just isn't that great. After only a few uses (using the chair just in my backyard, no rugged landscape), two bolts came out of the chair, rendering the chair useless. My husband (whom I bought this as a gift for) was able to make a temporary fix but it took time and effort, when for the price nothing should have come apart in the first place.

3.0 out of 5 stars Company trying to save costs, it's a mistake
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2020

I bought one of these chairs approximately 3 years ago. The angle clips which hold the chair tubing frame together have nuts and bolts at the stress points. NOW, the new one I just bought for my wife is all riveted together and after two weeks it looks like some are going to snap. I get so disappointed when companies look to reduce their costs by changing little manufacturing details. When a product works well, don't downgrade the quality to meet
inflationary pressures. Do two things.... 1. Fire your purchasing agent if he can't buy quality parts at the right price.
2. Raise your damn price !! WTF.... Do we pay $40.00 for a chair with rivets only ?? Or do we pay $45. 00 for a bolted chair? I know my answer...

So in closing, to fix my wife's new chair, I will spend two hours on drilling out the new rivets. Going to a specialty nut and bolt shop to buy case hardened nuts and bolts, ($2.09 total +gas). Reinstalling the new hardware. Oh, don't forget the grief I will get when she finds out I want to fix this chair instead of returning it. That's got to be worth alone at least $10.00. Maybe more. The up side, THE FABRIC IS GREAT... THAT'S WHY I AM FIXING !!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very durable

Cool looking chair, feels well made, the fabric rips easily though. I've had this chair for a while now. It only comes out when I need an extra chair for guests. Because of this, it's only seen a handful of uses over the last two years. Still, the fabric on one of the arms has ripped almost fully off. It's also torn away from the screws that attach the fabric to the frame on other parts of the chair. The frame seems to be holding up just fine, too bad the fabric can't stay attached.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bags and feet break, locking is good
Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2021

I've had 4 of them for about a year now. I've been looking for high quality long lasting chairs for kids sporting events and camping. The locking mechanism on these are great, and I like that there is a strap to use even if the bag is missing or ripped. But the strap on the chair doesn't fit over a shoulder well, not like the strap on the bag.

The bag rips easily, one of the 4 came with it already ripped and the other 3 have all been destroyed after 1 year. The feet of these chairs pop off easily as well. Think soccer games in the grass. After sitting for an hour, that's enough for the feet to sink in to the sod and come detached when it's time to fold the chairs up.

3.0 out of 5 stars It’s HUGE!

I REALLY want to like this chair. It DOES NOT fit my body, or my car. I was hoping to replace my 18 year old saggy chair with one that is more supportive but this is enormous. As a 5’2” woman (not slender) my arms to not rest on the armrests and my legs are swinging. It also won’t fit across the back off my Subaru’s cargo area and won’t fit in the car for trips.

Going to try visiting my local Cabelas or REI and see what other options they have.

This was a great idea, wish it came in a “petite” size that was at least 3” smaller overal.
