Shamble on in for some scary-good fun!

The latest in Samuel Peralta’s _The Future Chronicles_ presents fourteen different takes on the undead theme. After downloading this anthology, I soon found myself following along into some scary dark places and joining three authors’ mailing lists.
This snappy collection includes several gems. In Ann Christy’s macabre “Vindica,” a guy prepares for the apocalypse but forgets to include his girlfriend, comes up with *almost enough* cash to pay his way, and is enslaved as soon as the stuff hits the fan, which makes him *really angry.* (Moral: if you’re riding out the apocalypse in style, at least treat the help with some respect!) In Theresa Kay’s touching “Six Days,” a mother has just that much time to do right by her child. In “Gloria,” Hugh Howey puts the reader inside the head of a self-aware, pious ghoul. David Adams’ memorable “Her” tells the tale of a trans person turned zombie. And, in his impressive “Free Fall,” Peter Cawdron weds hard science fiction to the zombie apocalypse story.
The writing needs some weed-pulling here and there, but the collection’s overall quality is high. Every contributor makes a strong effort; the stories mentioned above are just my favorites.
It’s all good fun and, in this reviewer’s opinion, well worth the modest investment. Six bucks for hours of scary-good reading? That’s some kind of bargain, if you ask me. Shamble on over to the Kindle Store and corner your copy of _The Z Chronicles_ today!
(I received an advance reader copy for purposes of reviewing this work, but then paid for a copy, figuring it’s a good idea to support talented independent authors!)
