After reading some of the reviews before purchasing--some of which made me chuckle--I thought I'd leave an honest review and provide a public service.
First, I think I should explain a few things:
1) Phenylethylamine is, essentially, "base." No, not the brown, sticky stuff that results from cooking Drano, battery acid, and Sudafed. It is the basic chemical structure of amphetamines without the methyl group that turns it into Adderall or Ritalin. Double methylate it and you're Breaking Bad. Thus, its crystalline form.
Fellow citizens, do your research and do not bother with the latter two or if you'd like to save what's left of your teeth, grey matter, stomach lining, and liver function (to say the least), opt for the much tamer route and try replacing whatever building blocks (vits and mins) that are missing from your diet and your body before braving a long road of increasing side-effects, some of which are irreversible.
2) The 1x methylated stuff (what teachers and doctors like to pump into our kids) can and frequently does lead to anorexia (the not eating that leads to dietary deficiencies--only making your symptoms worse--and forgetting to drink that=dry mouth that= tooth decay), anxiety, depression, or worse, reduced liver function (my AST and ALT have been steadily rising), kidney problems, weakened heart muscle and any number of cardiac problems thereafter, including the possibility of suddenly dropping dead.
Now, last I checked, heart trouble, liver and kidney problems, and emotional imbalances help no one concentrate and focus better nor give them more energy. All of those things just make a body more tired and the brain even foggier than before, in the long term. More and more talented and intelligent people are reporting horrible problems with memory, slower cognitive functioning, an increasingly limited vocabulary, etc. Brain damage is now an acknowledged side-effect of stimulants. Discussion threads are filling up with inquiries about whether or not they cause arthritis. 25 year-olds waking up to Bengay and Icy Hot.
Those are some pretty significant drawbacks. And, thus, the search for something safer that will still allow me to stay awake and function that led me here.
Pros:
*The single ingredient in this phenylethylamine? Phenylethylamine.
*Tiny doses of this safe supplement taken (alongside my n-acetyl l-tyrosine) on the same schedule as my Rx meds keeps me awake most or all of the day. No significant energy spikes, but no crashes as it wears off, either. It is pleasant energy.
*This is actually a naturally occurring substance.
Cons:
*If you're overcoming a significant deficit, this alone is not likely to be enough to get you through the day. I did discover an article that says it is best paired (or stacked) with Hordenine to provide longer lasting results.
*BulkSupplements provides NO recommendations nor dosing instructions, so figuring out how this is best ingested has to be an in-depth Google search.
*** Order empty capsules!! And invest in a mg scale and mortar & pestle.***
Not a great idea to boast the benefits of a product and then provide no guidance as to what to do with the package once it arrives!
Listen to other reviewers and start at half the lowest recommended dose and then work your way up. So far, I am quite pleased with the product and what it is able to do all by itself. Arrived quickly and the company checks in frequently to encourage feedback and make sure the customer is satisfied.
Beats waiting for prior auths and pharmacies to restock, anyday.
