Enjoyable Whodunit with Brilliant Characterization
Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2015
I loved the characters in this book, though at times I was a bit surprised by their actions and reactions - especially Mercy who can be pretty outspoken and is obviously a confident and intelligent woman, but didn't seem able to string a coherent sentence together when it really mattered. And Charlie who, although claiming he didn't really believe she had anything to do with the murder, still had her hauled away in handcuffs. That aside I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and particularly liked all the individual stories of the characters as they were gradually revealed. I particularly liked Nubbin and his insistence on calling Mercy anything but her given name. Their interactions together were so well written that it's hard to imagine they're not based on real people.
