How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

This is the first book I have read in this series, but it is truly a standalone. Also my first book by this author. There are aspects of this book I very much enjoyed and aspects I did not.

I enjoyed the characters of the Morgans. I also enjoyed Jake and Georgia very much. It is neat to see the interactions of a tight knit family.

The storyline is a bit convoluted and very confusing. Even at the end when it is all explained it doesn’t really come together well.

The character-development is well done, but what the characters do is bizarre. It often seemed like the author was putting them in situations where she could throw in another graphic sex scene. The plot did not develop smoothly nor did the relationships.

This leads me to the graphic sex scenes. Reading the prologue I questioned whether to continue on with the book. It is very graphic. I don’t really enjoy those kind of descriptions. They did not fit on the overall storyline well and seemed to be gratuitous at best. At worst, they were so repetitive they became trite. Apparently the author only knows a few moves that need to be repeated with each scene.

Overall, it could have been a great storyline, but fell short. I won’t be seeking out any other of the author’s novels.

I found this book to be quite different from Burton's other books I've read. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead
Spoilers....
Amber played a huge roll in this story, she was the key suspect five years ago and ended up being the mastermind behind the entire thing. Very rarely does this author give away her killer so early. Having said that, she did plant many doubts along the way. I was on the fence about Amber from page one. She was a true sociopath and this book gave you a glimpse of how truly dangerous someone like that is....and how truly evil.
This as I said was different, not at all what I expected but definitely one I enjoyed.

I don't usually try to listen or read a series I prefer
stand only books. But this series is worth ordering. Cliff hangers always I can usually guess whose doing what but not with these books. Recommended

All four of the Morgan books were good. I think the third was my favorite but all were very well written!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but tries to be too many different things

I enjoyed this book at the beginning. It had an interesting story line and introduced a cast of characters that were well-developed and had some depth. I was totally into it until about the halfway point, and then it started losing me. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what happened. By the time I finished the book, I decided that it seemed like it was trying to be too many different things (straight suspense, romantic suspense, mystery). There wasn't enough "dark" to it for it to even remotely fall into the psychological thriller or plain old thriller categories.

I liked both of the main characters, Jake and Georgia, but there wasn't enough of a relationship buildup for this to really be a romantic suspense. On a hotness scale of 1-10 (with 10 being smokin'), I would rate this one at about a 2.

The mystery element was pretty good, but I figured out who the "bad guy" was early on, so that detracted somewhat from my enjoyment of the book. Sometimes, even if I figure out whodunit early in a story, I'm still able to be engaged in the material and remain into it. That wasn't the case here. I think there just wasn't enough intensity throughout the book.

Thankfully, I got this one on the cheap. I paid a buck or two for it, and honestly, that's about what it's worth. I don't recommend paying full price for this one unless you're really into tame, middle-of-the-road mystery/suspense stories.

The twists and turns in this book are sometimes distracting but they make for a good mystery. But it all comes together at the end.

Miss perky meets and falls in love with Mr. “ I don’t know if I can be any cooler”. The reason I gave this book four stars is Mary Burton’s body of work which has been excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite One Yet!!!!!

I have this book 5 stars because it covered all the bases. The energy and the relationship between Georgia and Jake is, for me, my favorite yet. The dynamic between the detectives and the family had a natural flow. The bad guys, and the scenarios created for them, also hit the mark in every way. Mary Burton's best so far!!! I haven't read all of Burton's books, but enough to know how well she creates her characters, and Georgia, Jake & Amber are no exception. They are 3 of my favorite characters and I was just disappointed when it was over. I wanted more!!
