This is the first book I have read in this series, but it is truly a standalone. Also my first book by this author. There are aspects of this book I very much enjoyed and aspects I did not.
I enjoyed the characters of the Morgans. I also enjoyed Jake and Georgia very much. It is neat to see the interactions of a tight knit family.
The storyline is a bit convoluted and very confusing. Even at the end when it is all explained it doesn’t really come together well.
The character-development is well done, but what the characters do is bizarre. It often seemed like the author was putting them in situations where she could throw in another graphic sex scene. The plot did not develop smoothly nor did the relationships.
This leads me to the graphic sex scenes. Reading the prologue I questioned whether to continue on with the book. It is very graphic. I don’t really enjoy those kind of descriptions. They did not fit on the overall storyline well and seemed to be gratuitous at best. At worst, they were so repetitive they became trite. Apparently the author only knows a few moves that need to be repeated with each scene.
Overall, it could have been a great storyline, but fell short. I won’t be seeking out any other of the author’s novels.
