How Much Dessert Can People Eat? 2.5
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2019
I finished this book wondering if she gave the SEAL team diabetes... every chapter past the midpoint she is making brownies, Brown Betties, cookies, cherry pies, etc. I got this book because of the positive reviews and I love action with my romance. However, this was lacking in a believable plot where the actions of every major character was over the top sugary sweet. Rather than providing a meaty plot point, the main protagonist’s motives were really lame and that story aspect was just “suspense filler” so that our gal needed saving a few times. I know this is fiction, and I know we want hunky, sexy, NICE guy heros, but this was a bit much. Mason was perfectly macho, extremely loving, kind, magically kept his six pack despite eating copious amounts of cookies, and thought she was the most amazing person ever! Too much rainbows and sunshine with cheesy cutesy dialogue. I will try another in this series, hoping that this is not the formula for all her books. Gotta give it a 2.5 Rounded up, because there was a plot, and I did finish the book. Feeling optimistic!
Update: Tried the next one in the Midnight Delta series... Clint. Stopped at 25%. Dialogue was even more cheesy and over the top sweet. If she killed a big spider with her shoe I bet he would gush over her about how brave and amazing she was and how lucky he is to have her in his life. She of course would be humble and respond that he was the brave one... ugh too much and seems to be a theme. Thanks!
