How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsShe slept through ... a car accident!!
Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2016
If that headline doesn't get your attention, I'm not sure what will. BUT, seriously, my child slept through a pretty significant fender bender tucked safely in this car seat.

Right before my daughter turned one I poured over car seats (once again) as she rapidly outgrew her first infant "bucket" seat. I fretted, I compared, I researched to a painstaking degree. In the end, I purchased this car seat (with crossed fingers) because it had many of the features of the much more expensive "name brand" car seats without the price tag.

When the seat arrived I wasn't disappointed. It feels quite sturdy, has adequate padding, seems quite comfortable, fits inside both of our vehicles etc. It may not be the "fanciest" car seat out there, but upon first inspection it seemed to be just "fine" and I was not disappointed in my purchase.

Flash forward 6 months. My daughter is now 18 months old. We are running around taking care of errands, and I am stopped at a stop sign when *BAM* a truck smashes into our tiny hybrid HARD and I mean HARD - it's been determined the driver was going between 30 to 45 miles per hour... and I was completely STOPPED. I jarred both of my legs into the floor, bruised my shoulder area (where the buckle was), and had some pretty serious whiplash. My daughter (rear facing in this car seat) SLEPT through the crash and sustained no injuries...not a single bruise, not a hair out of place. I find that impressive. Safety 1st, did just that - kept my most precious "cargo" safe. To say I recommend this car seat would be an understatement.

This car seat is not safe, do not buy this especially if u want to use it in mutiple cars I have used it for 2-3 months and cant get it to fit to any car..i have honda CRV n toyota prius it can’t fit tight in both, sometimes u feel that it fitted well but when u ride n take couple of turns it gets loosened, i had a situation where my baby almost fell off from the seat while i was driving it was a scary situation, I saw several videos online to fit this car seat tightly but was not able to do that, it is not straight foward to fit it into the car seat...anyway avoid this car seat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some pointer for installation ( thanks The Car Seat Lady)

I purchased this car seat this weekend to prepare for a long drive for he holidays. My daugher has a Chicco KeyFit35 I fear car seat, however he NextFit is over $300 so no thanks. I choose this car seat due to the comfort and recline available and it’s reasonably priced.
I did have an initial issue with the installation. I was able to tighten the LATCH straps however, when I pulled at the belt area, I saw that the car seat could roll over. I watch The Car Seat Lady on youTube. Based on that, I have four recommendation, 1) make sure the base is CENTERED into seat and make sure the LATCH straps are centered as well. 2). Move your front seat up and climb in the car and pull the LATCH strap tighthener from behind (I installed rear facing). This will give you leverage to put your body weight in the car seat and push it down. 3) Pull the LATCH tightening strap through the belt path ( called the outside/inside method). This will also help you leverage and 4) lastly, is the seat isn’t tight, recline the seat ( I have an SUV) install
The carseat and then put the seat in the upright/regular position. According to the The Car Seat Lady, this will also assist you in getting a tight/ secure fir of the clearest so it won’t move. Note, the backend of the car seat wiggle a little bit however all the videos I watch state that if you pull back/forth and left/ right on the car seat AT THE BELT PATH, and t doesn’t move then te car seat is correctly installed. Hope that helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent without the bells and whistles
Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2016
Color: Harvest MoonStyle: OriginalVerified Purchase
Since so many compared the two models in my photos, I ordered both to make my decision. Safety First Go three-in-one and Graco four-ever

Both recline to the same point when sitting on a flat surface! They have different intervals to get there, but both get to the same point. Taking a closer look, though, the Safety First model will sit in a more reclined position when the line is parallel whereas the 4 ever required more incline (books) to achieve a centered bubble (child would be more upright in the Graco than the Safety First). See photo. I stacked booked under the hind-side to adjust to the proper level. Both seats are in the most reclined setting.

The Graco has more height in the headrest. Significantly so. I was surprised how little adjusting there is with the Safety First.

The Graco is more narrow so will fit in the car better. It is still sufficient in size for a boost-aged child. I fit in it (barely). Plenty of padding for a little baby. I would feel safe putting an infant in either.

Graco material seems more water-resistant and the foam feels denser like a memory foam.

Both adjust easily in regard to recline and headrest positions and strap tension. Both have the easy release button.

The Graco is much heavier than the Safety First.

Others have mentioned the latch system to be different. (Graco being easier). I have not installed them in the vehicle yet and cannot attest to that.

I hope this helps! This is the review I was looking for when trying to make a decision. In the end, we'll be keeping the 4 ever and either returning the Safety First or keeping it for our second vehicle.

Photos: upright & highest setting, upright & lowest setting, all the way reclined in lowest setting, and side view to show amount of lift required on solid ground in order to achieve proper line/bubble placement when fully reclined.

5.0 out of 5 stars Machine washable for puke face babies :(:

Here is a simple break down...

FACTS...

-Owned 2 years.

-Used daily

-My daughter spent a year forward facing in it.

-Now my son is currently rear facing in it.

-We machine wash/dry 1-3 every week for the last 4 months due to car sick son.

PROS

-Holds up great in the wash!!!!! Look at my current photos after all those washes.

-Easy to disassemble for cleaning.

-The padding is removable while keeping seat installed.

-padding is in layers so you can just remove the pieces that are soiled.

-Easy to install forward or rear facing. (Tip if using the anchors rear facing read the instructions. You need to left the padding off the one cup holder to fully tighten)

-Spacious

-3 tilt positions

-Great cushined head support and shoulder pads for sleeping baby/toddler.

-Fit my 1 year old (22lb 32in tall) as well as my 4 year old (29lb 37in tall) with adjustments with room to grow.

-Two cup holders that fit all size sippy cups.

CONS...

-The front buckle between the legs is almost impossible to get vomit out of the crevices/grooves :( I added a photo of the crevices/grooves. The buckle looks wet because I just finished cleaning it.

I really love this seat and think it was a great buy for our family. I really I’m impressed how well it washes stains out without extra stain treatment. The photos I added was taken right after a fresh wash. It was covered in a mix of watermelon, raspberries and milk. It was saturated on red before cleaning.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad I bought this over the Graco 4-ever
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2016
Color: Harvest MoonStyle: OriginalVerified Purchase
This carseat is AMAZING! Around 6 months old, my daughter really started hating her infant carseat because she couldn't sit up and look out the window. My mother-in-law bought a convertible carseat for her car, so she was really starting to love that one. Also, my husband and I were getting tired of moving the infant seat from car to car since she was so heavy. Therefore, I went on my journey to find a convertible seat. I was not willing to spend over $200 because we need one for each of our cars and that money adds up! I read review, after review, after review. These were what I wanted:

1. To go all the way to a high back booster
2. Under $200
3. Easily Machine Washable
4. Easy tie back for straps (my mother-in-laws Britax has velcro)
5. Cup holders for when she gets old
6. Nice neutral color

Do you know how hard it was to find that? SO HARD. Half of them were either pink or blue, which I hated because our interiors are black and I wanted something that could be used with another baby someday. Therefore, I stumbled on this one and was excited to order it and get it in. I was a little worried though that it might not be the quality we were hoping for or might be hard to get her in and out, but it's literally amazing! We've had it now for about 3 months and it's perfect. We are saving up now to buy the second one for my husband's car, but know that it's exactly what we want!

The only negative thing I can say is that it's a bit harder than our Chicco Keyfit to loosen the harness, but it's not impossible, just a little harder.

Would recommend this seat to anyone in the market for one, and at a much better price than the Graco 4ever seat.

My toddler is A-OK after being in a terrible car accident (car is totaled.) I T-boned a girl who took a left in front of me and I couldn't get the car really even slowed down before it happened. Probably a 45mph crash and he was perfect afterwards! So glad he is ok, and very thankful for this carseat. I will be replacing the seat with the same model (for those that are unaware, anytime your car is in an accident, the car seats should be replaced).

Forward facing , this seat is fantastic, sturdy and easy to set up. My kid loves this seat and the cup holders.
Rear facing , this seat is very difficult to install and after watching several videos online and reading a million comments I figured out what I was doing wrong. The manual and the. Videos on the safety site do not explain the correct way to pull the anchor strap at the base. You are supposed to pull the strap through the car seat at an angle to allow the strap to shortened. If this is installed in correctly your seat will tip over the second you make a turn and this is very dangerous for you child. Safety 1st should make it clearer in both their manual and videos how to properly install this car seat, perhaps slow down and zoom in on the anchor strap installation to make sure parents install properly and kids are not swaying around in something that is supposed to keep them safe.
Luckily for me my kid is big enough to start foward facing so that is how it has been installed in our car without any issues.

The price dropped by $25 just 5 days after we purchased it. Both Amazon and the manufacturer refused to adjust the price. I explained that I could simply return the seat and repurchase at the reduced price (at no monetary cost to me, by the way). I was basically told "be our guest!". It was just so irrational for them to incur the shipping charges of the return and reshipment, and for me to go through the effort, but to me 25 bucks is 25 bucks and I did it. Very illogical.

The seat itself seems great, our 15 month old is happy to be out of the infant seat. It was difficult to install in our CRV - the harness straps were seemingly as tight as I could get them, and the seat still shifted from side to side. I added the seat belt as a second method of installation and that seemed to do the trick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let me tell you a 30 second story about a company called "safety 1st"
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2022
Color: Harvest MoonStyle: OriginalVerified Purchase
Bought this model almost 2 years ago. Got good and worn. Then one day the driver of the car left the sunroof open. A critter, most likely a raccoon got in and found the straps to be quite tasty. When we contacted this company simply to inquire about replacement straps we were informed that they do not make replacement straps for this specific model. So we figured, oh well this is a tragedy, but our fault. We didn't read about this feature, we left the sunroof open, right? That's not how "safety 1st" saw the situation at all. Instead they took this as a chance to go ABOVE AND BEYOND what anyone would expect a carseat company to offer in this situation. They wanted our son to be safe in our car. So they sent us a brand new carseat. Asking nothing of us but to destroy the old carseat to make sure no child would be unsafe in a substandard version of their seat. 10 days later, a brand new car seat showed up. And now we can throw out the old one. So to be clear, I bought this seat, by my own fault I ruined, and safety 1st still felt obligated to help us keep our son safe, living up to their name!!!! And I'm buying stock in their company the next chance I get.
