For something quick and easy to read that's chock-full of plot twists (some predictable), here's a romance fantasy series that is perfect for a lazy day when you don't want to think too much. I rated 5 stars because I didn't want a "heavy" read. The author is an excellent writer and storyteller. There are a few places where the story seems to skip over an event that could have been suspenseful, but it goes right into another suspenseful scene. It works. There is an underlying message with this series, but it's not hidden. 😉

So, I had to sleep on it before I reviewed this one because I had such mixed feelings. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I went through probably every emotion, which is the sign of a good story but I just feel like the author writes a book without really thinking of how the next book is going to go and gives you whiplash. In book 2 we watched the relationship between Ryann and Nox grow, without Lad around. I ended up loving them together more and was happy Lad stepped back so it could grow. I feel like Lad is the "safe choice" which to me translates to boring but I know many people love safe. It reminded me of Vampire Diaries Elena's choice between safe reliable Stefan or Damon who loved her absolutely and had his flaws but he brought passion and depth to her life, opened her mind to new things. In this book we find out it was all a lie. It was all a glamour and wasnt real at all on either side and you dont even have time to recover before Nox is off marrying V (whom I don't feel one way or the other about). I guess I feel we shouldn't have had a whole book watching them blossom, maybe half a book and then realize its a glamour so you're not as invested in them. That's really my only complaint with the book but it's a big deal to me in the long run. She does end up back with Lad and everyone is happy for each other and blissful (I do love ryann and nox still have bestie type of banter. Made it lessen the blow a little.) But I was over here like "Excuse me?! I'm still mad over here. Yall cant he happy yet!"

So other than the relationship aspect I obviously dont like, the storyline was solid and interesting. I liked having an actual villain with a face, instead of an in general bad guy. There were lots or twists and turns that began in book 2 and unraveled here. So, while this was probably my least favorite book of the series I did still enjoy it and will be continuing on to book 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this final installment in the Hidden trilogy

I enjoyed this final installment in the Hidden trilogy.

I liked how things turned out with the story lines the trilogy spun. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development of our main characters (along with a couple of minor ones).

I will say that there were several questions about the aftermath of everything that were left unsaid in this final book. I would ask the author to please strongly consider writing an epilogue to update this book with at the end. There were just so many unanswered questions.

Some of the questions I had were (SPOILER ALERT):

How did things go with Ryann's mother after the ending? Did she get better? Did she remember anything? Now that Ryann & her grandmother were welcome at Altum & would be visiting there often (and Ryann likely living there at times), will they let Ryann's mother in on the family's secret heritage? What will she know about Davis & all he did to them as well as how does she feel/react about the news if she's informed?

How did the Light Elves react to the news of Ryann's & Lad's engagement? Will she be accepted as Queen? Will they announce that she's only 1/4 human?

What will they do about Davis' right hand man, Audun? He is obviously just as bad (possibly worse?) as Davis.

What about Ryann's adopted father's relationship with her mother? If he was glamoured accidentally, will their relationship fizzle out once he begins drinking saol water as well? Or is he truly in love with her mother? Regardless of if their love is true or not, how will his behavior change once the glamour has worn off?

4.0 out of 5 stars How can Ryann choose a side when both reside as one inside of her?
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 5, 2016

Chaos erupts between both the light and dark worlds, and Ryann has wedged herself right in the middle. She is torn between which natural state she prefers- the light is peaceful and inviting while the dark is new, mysterious and forbidden.

How can Ryann choose a side when both reside as one inside of her?

With her mother MIA and her biological father hellbent on enslaving the human population she will need to make her mind up fast.

Unfortunately with her heart on the fritz due to unresolved emotional baggage between her and her love interests, she's wound up in a pickle.

Traveling from Mississippi to LA to Boston she has her work cut out for her.

Negatives:

The book starts out with Lads perspective- each book prior has been through Ryann's eyes which throws the reader for a loop.
The book ends too sudden as if the author had a particular word count target and she wasn't allowed to write over.
The relationship tension between Nox and Ryann felt sped up and unresolved.
Warning: Not a stand-alone book, book 1 Hidden Deep, and Book 2 Hidden Heart must be read to understand the complexity of Ryann's emotions.

Sexuality:
hot and steamy- kissing and touching.

Paranormal romance lovers

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SERIES I'VE READ IN YEARS!!
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 18, 2016

Okay, I read ALOT of books... ALOT. (my husband complains quite a bit) and I have to say, this is probably the most memorable series I've read in the past 2 years. I LOVED it. I've pretty much gotten no sleep the past few nights! I dont know how this series hasnt gotten more hype?? I love stories with a love triangle and this one does not fail you! Usually the author has to make one of the men in the triangle turn into a jerk so you'll start hating him and root for the other one- this author did not do that.. so i was torn about who I wanted Ryann to be with- I Ioved them both! But she wrapped it up well and I was happy with the outcome. I cant' wait for the 4th book- I just dont want to be done with this love story!
The other thing I loved about this series is that it wasn't so raunchy that I'd feel embarrassed to recommend to my friends. With that said, dont worry- it definitely has some scenes that get the butterflies going! There is no shortage of romance ;) I will definitely recommend this to my friends!
The last thing I loved was the storyline- I tend to avoid "fantasy/fairy tale" type books but this one was not SO out there that I didnt know what the heck was going on! I could totally "believe" it and understand it. It was awesome!

I thought maybe this series was going to be another vampire love story (which it's not btw so don't worry, it's something 100x better that I didn't even think I'd like)... but thought "Hey.. it's free.. might as well. I need a new book to read when I'm bored or before bed."
Big mistake. Huge.
I have gotten zero sleep in the last 3 days. It's 4AM right now and I have just purchased the 5th book to feed my addiction. I am literally unable to put the phone down. I just keep charging it over and over and reading.
I am on the 5th book in 3 days, and I hope the author keeps pumping them out asap!
The story I beautifully written, and is based on the lovely ol' southern ways, which I can attest to.
The characters are well written, there is no perfect person in the entire series (which is refreshing. Because hey, nobody's perfect), the plot is well thought out the ought the entire series, and there are many small connecting pieces that weave a much larger picture throughout the whole thing.
All in all, it's romance, action, fantasy, comedy, and a little sexy here and there.
Fantastic is how I have described it to everyone!

3.0 out of 5 stars Let down

I have liked the series so far but this one was kind of a let down. SPOILER ALERT! The breakup was so long anticipated and drawn out that the way UT finally happened was such a let down. Just, yup, I'm over it in a snap, bye... I expected more feelings involved after realizing that your relationship was based on unintentional glamor. The lack of care given to this scene really spoiled it for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun if you can get over some of the ridiculous plot lines

I loved book 1. Really enjoyed book 2 and can say that book 3 was also enjoyable although there are plot holes you could drive a semitrailer of Magnolia Sweet Tea through. Again, much of the plot involves the love “square” with Ryann, Nox, Vancia and Lad. And the ending WAS BEYOND STUPID if you are looking for any sense of reality — I just sort of skimmed it to get back to the main romance storyline — but I’ve forgiven a lot to see how Lad and Ryann find their way back to each other. If you’ve enjoyed the first three book, you’ll like this one too. Laughing out loud at the stupid stuff is definitely understandable.

Once again, this was a very well written book with plenty of action. As before, I was able to see most of the story's developments coming from a mile away, but it was still enjoyable reading how everything unfolded. However, I was VERY disappointed in how the situation with Nox, Lad and Ryann was handled. While I understand why the author chose to go that direction, it certainly wouldn't have been MY happy ending (ha ha!). Even though I debated against continuing the series, I'm a bit hooked on it. So, I'm off to read book 4 now ~ mainly in hopes of reading more about Nox! He holds MUCH more interest for me than sweet Lad, who is just a little too "vanilla" for my taste.
