Summary: When a new baby enters the family, Rosco (the dog) feels left out and displaced- his whole world has been turned upside down all thanks to this tiny human. The two battle for attention and along the way develop an unbreakable friendship.
This was a perfectly timed book for us since we have gone through a similar journey with our cat and little munchkin. Pre-baby, our cat was our lovely little fur-baby- getting 100% of our attention. Of course she was a little confused when a tiny, screaming human entered her world! We have seen a similar evolution, however and 16 months later they are the best of friends.
The illustrations are unique and wonderful. At first I thought they were pencil drawings, but then noticed some watercolor and what appeared to be scrapbook paper and lined paper- so more of a mixed-media. The colors are mostly light and pastel and have a fun, happy, friendly vibe to them.
If I had to choose a string of hashtags for this story, I'd say: #newbaby, #pets, #furbaby #boyandhisdog
Perfect for any family who has had to incorporate a human baby into the life of their fur baby!

Need a picture book to tell you how it really is for a pet and a new baby? Well this may be your book. It's a funny take on pets and new family members. Who will win the showdown? For the most part it's a match but hopefully at some point it becomes a draw.
Author/illustrator, Lindsay Ward, rallies up the fun in this humorous picture book published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young People.
