How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsThe Truth about Indie Publishing
Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2016
Countless gurus and companies will promise you that indie publishing is cheap, easy, and fun, then laugh all the way to the bank with your money. If you'd rather be coached by an experienced publishing pro who cares enough about you to tell the truth, start with this book.

With good humor and a no-holds-barred writing style, Amy Collins tells it like it is in book publishing, and then shares her decades of experience to help you make the best decisions for your goals, step by step.

In the very first paragraph, Amy writes: "By using this book as your guide, you will learn about the publishing industry as a whole, how to think like a publisher, and what steps to take to create a successful book. You will also learn the tools to stay on top of current publishing trends and avoid costly mistakes." Many books begin with such sweeping promises. This book delivers. I highly recommend this book to anyone considering indie publishing.

Very informational. Just have to make sure to apply the teachings of this book. Some I did not get because it was a little dated. Still worth the read and the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this book before publishing your book

What does publishing a book entail? What are the steps to consider while you are finishing your book? What kind of team of professionals will you need to assemble? How will you find them? And finally, what will all this cost?
The Write Way dives into the details and helps the novice publisher move step by step to get a personal publishing plan set up and what to expect along the way. I particularly, liked the time table from when you finish your manuscript to laying out the calendar to your publication date. It’s a jungle out there and most of us don’t know the difference between a distributor and wholesaler.
The book gives examples which help us picture how a book moves from a “developmental editor” to a “copy editor.” No, don’t ever let your family or friend who is an English teacher attempt to edit your book! Get a pro. Your investment may make the difference between success and failure.

There are instructions on how to prepare Advance Review Copies and a Sales Presentation Kit. Want to get your book into libraries? Yup, there’s a whole method to doing that. Want publicity? Yup, there’s a right way and wrong way to do that to.

Lastly, and you would probably expect this, The Write Way is written in an easy to read fashion and is just the right length to digest, then reuse as a reference when you want to check a procedure.

The Write Way is a great resource to keep at hand's reach if you are a newbie, or established writer or publisher. There is so much information to help you chart the uncharted waters of publishing, and learn first hand the effort it takes to write and put on a publisher's cap. There are terms, strategies, and techniques in all areas of publishing, and marketing your books to guide you through the deep. The author encourages you to take your time to learn the information correctly, and then proceed to publish, and market your books. A must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars A TON of practical and valuable information for me; the first time author and publisher

I received this book today and have been devouring it like a hungry lion. I have been searching for information in a crowded marketplace of advice and ideas where Amy Collins has over delivered. Thankfully she has educated me and changed my direction about 110 degrees from where I was heading. Lots of practical steps to take and checklists of what not to forget. Amy offers her thoughts about different paths you can take and why she recommends the ones she does. Some other books on self publishing and some people offering their services just didn't seem to make sense. I am SO glad I ordered this book. I plan to read it several times and accept almost all of her advice.

Any Collins is a book marketing guru. You’ll get a whole lotta insider knowledge from this book. Some of the publication info is outdated and the book is poorly edited, but for .99, I definitely got my money’s worth and then some!

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Self-Publishing Details You Need in One Book!

I'm happy I bought Amy Collins very practical guide to "everything you need to know about publishing, selling, and marketing your book." I've been learning about self-publishing from many different sources, and I have notes to myself here and there and everywhere. I bought this book, so I'd have current, credible info in one handy place. Amy Collins didn't disappoint. Now I have great advice about exactly what to do and where to go to self-publish my own books and work with my book writing clients to publish, launch, and promote their books successfully, too. I like the book's handy pages to help an author back-out a clear timeline from the publishing goal date through each self-publishing task to complete. Collins also offers useful information about the various lengths and sizes of books, budgeting for publication and marketing, and how to assemble a team of people to ensure you publish a quality product from the book's cover design, to editing, to interior layout, and back cover copy. This guide looks and feels professionally published. It's the real deal. And the handy guide fits in my purse!

This is quite an involved read that won't get a quick review from me just yet. However, there is easy detectable good quality within it. The book seems well organized and well written. so I won't give up on it. I just have to set aside the time.
