Dirty Deeds by Armand Rosamilia came to my attention through the Kindle Scout program. I voted for the book to be published by Amazon. It was chosen and so I got a free advance copy. There are two problems with Dirty Deeds. First it has such an abrupt cliffhanger I almost broke my neck. Second and more importantly, I do not have the sequel and I need to know what happens now. This minute! Mr. Rosamilia I hope you have the sequel ready to publish soon because Dirty Deeds was incredible.

The main character, whose real name is still unknown, is great. He is totally believable. He is flawed both physically and emotionally. The more I got to know about him as the book progressed, the more invested in his fate I became. Great job from the opening line of hooking the reader. Why would you care about a character who tells you in the first paragraph he kills children for money? Trust me, you will care about him. And you will root for him.

The action was a good combination of suspense shot through with frenzied action and relieved by wonderful humor.. The side characters were well developed also. I will be on the look out for the sequel. I rate Dirty Deeds a shiny five stars.

2.0 out of 5 starsWhat the heck happened?

This was a better book than two stars right up to the end. Suddenly, on page 204, there is a major plot point then nothing. I feel like pages are missing. I hope it is a publishing error, because it doesn’t work as a cliffhanger.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gripping Good Read!
Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2018

Dirty Deeds is a crime novel with a twist– and not the kind you’d expect. The protagonist is an aging hitman with a big secret: he spirits away the children he’s been paid to kill, setting them up with an adoption agency that places them with loving new families. Or at least, so he thinks. Unfortunately, things are starting to go wrong for our heroic hitter. He’s been set up, and one of his past targets has tracked him down –and revenge is on the kid’s mind.

Dirty Deeds is easily one of the most enjoyable crime novels I’ve read recently. It’s packed with gritty, believable characters, plot twists, and enough violence to make it feel wholly authentic without turning into a blood bath. This is gripping fare, and Rosamilia’s writing is truly fun to read.

I also didn’t find the ending as jarring as other readers seem to have. The story wrapped up fairly conclusively before the arrival of the hook for the sequel, and it didn’t make me feel that the narrative had concluded without a real ending.

This book has more than earned a five star rating, and I’ll definitely be picking up the sequel in the future!

4.0 out of 5 stars Serial Novel Begins
Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2018

First, be aware that this isn’t a complete book. It’s the first part of a serial and if you think you’re getting a complete novel you won’t be happy when it ends with major story threads left unresolved and a cliffhanger.

That said, you’ll notice that I still gave it an above average review. For the .99 I paid, it was well worth the price. It’s a noirish story wherein the main character is a faux assassin who pretends to kill kids for rich people but really kidnaps them and then hides them with new parents, names, and homes. He’s really good at the first part, but not so great at the second.

As with most stories of this kind, it is simply written and an easy read. When I read for pleasure I read slowly and I still finished this in less than four hours. The characters are fairly simple with the main being the closest to full development and two others (FBI guy and his protege) being developed just as much as they have to. The rest of it is action, investigation, or mulling over the situation trying to figure things out. Like I said, very noirish.

And then, just as the setup is done, it ends.

There are at least two other stories in the serial, both at 2.99. If I knew the serial ended at that point it would be worth it. However, I don’t and I’m not going to keep paying 2.99 to find an end in book seven (for what should have been a single novel at less than $10). HOWEVER, if you are a kindle subscriber all the books seem to be free and I recommend the series to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Super Hero Hitman
Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2020

A novel about a person who is taking on jobs to pay the bills—killing people. Moreover, killing children. If that sounds like a book about a sociopathic person, you are wrong. He, the protagonist, is hired by adults who have unwanted children eliminated from their responsibilities. But, and here is the change the reader feels for the hitman, he is actually placing the unwanted children in homes that have parents who want to love and care properly for the children. Thusly, the abhorrent hitman become a sort of hero. A super-hero you might say. The reader then feels empathy for him as he goes through a part of his life covered in the book. Since he is not a perfect person, even has a few vices, he is still empathic but becomes a bit of an antihero super-hero.

A good read.

When children are being put up for hits by unbelievably, their parents, one man steps in to take the job! James Gaffney is the main character in this story and is a man you will get to know very well. Along with his secretary or should I say his personal assistant Marisa, they run a very lucrative “hit” business. But is it all that it seems? While being hounded by the FBI and another key player in this story, Detective Reggie Keane, James must try and solve an old problem before the mob hits him. As with all of Mr. Rosamilia’s stories, I was captivated by this thriller…reading as fast as I could…holding on to the edge of my seat! There is a lot of action which added to holding my breath a few times and had me wondering what the heck could happen next, only to have something even worse come up! The cast of characters is definitely well developed, some likable and others…not so much. It was also nice to see a few characters from other books by this author brought up along the way but you needn’t have read those in order to read this one. One thing that I will mention is that as other reviewers have said…the ending is abrupt! It’s the type of ending that will leave the reader saying…Huh? And maybe add a few choice words to the author that shouldn’t be repeated but…isn’t that what a good author is supposed to do? Leave the reader wanting more? I personally think so! Thank you dear author for an enjoyable and entertaining story that definitely made this reader want more and look forward to the next book in this series!
I received this book through the Kindle Scout program and I am so happy that I voted that this book be added to it!

I voted for this book in Kindle Scout and I'm seriously glad I did. Armand knocked it out of the park with this book. I had trouble putting it down and going about my daily life. Then...THEN... I get to the end, furiously clicking, attempting to turn the page, but much to my dismay; the book was over. It is my fervent hope that the sequel to this will be available soon because I NEED to know what happens next. Well done Armand, it's an excellent book from the first page to the last. This book was funny, sarcastic, and loaded with suspense. You get to know James and you root for him like an underdog. Marisa is refreshing and just the bright spot this book needs. I give it six stars and a high five!

5.0 out of 5 stars great read a book hangover in the making

I found out about this book from a good friend, who wanted me to help get the word out via kindle scout program . When I read the write up I was so stoked , this was a book right up my alley. The story was a thriller and I knew I would gobble it up . The basis of the story is about a killer of children but he doesn't actually kills them. He saves them from parents that are a waste of skin and given new lives. Until the day one comes back to haunt him and how he races to find out the truth .

I love how we don't know the true name of our main character , I was so intrigued by this man, he was strong but also flawed. He is a typical middle aged man with a secret life . He hides behind his baseball card selling and wants to live a life of quiet. We see him come alive as he is being stalked by the enemy. He goes balls to the wall to find out what happens . With the help of his personal assistant Marissa, who in my opinion reminds me of Garcia on criminal minds , the know all of the computer world . She is like a daughter to him and she is also his conscience. They are able to out wit and out play the FBI and the mob.

Agent Reggie King is a character that I don't know about yet , he is a different duck , he has been hunting James for as long as he can remember . I didn't know if he was a good guy or a bad guy . Which I love in a character , they are the ones that make you think as you read . The rest of the characters consisted of goons and a mob godfather that are just making life very difficult for our poor main character .

This was the first book I have read by this author and boy I was glad I did . He takes us on such a journey and you just can't put the book down . I was sitting on the edge of my seat most of the way through this book . I wanted to see if we found out the real identity of our James and then would he survive what was happening . The only thing that made me a little sad is the big cliff hanger that was at the end of the book . Other then that the author has done a masterful job of telling a tale of intrigue and mystery. You will be blown away by the writing style and storytelling . I so can't wait till I get the second installment in this series . This author is going to become one of my go to authors to read when I want a good thriller. So if you want a thriller that will keep you up and keep you reading all night long . Check him out .

With this title (and because I never read blurbs) I was expecting it to be a bit on the naughty side. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a unique gem of a story. It's fresh, fun, fast paced, and taught me more about the baseball greats than anything else. The intimate tone of the story is genuine and adds that personal element, making it feel more like a friend telling you about their life over coffee than a tale put down on paper. The narration is absolute perfection and takes this book to the next level with all the fantastic accents and unique character voices. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this story goods next, because after that ending I know there has to be more.

Dirty Deeds By Armand Rosamilia 5/4/2016
I received this book through the Kindle Scout program.
Dirty Deeds is a perfect example that you can write a good suspenseful, intelligent, complex story with many twists and turns without filling it with trashy language and clichéd dialogue. This was a clean book about Murder for hire of children by their powerful, educated and wealthy parents.
Our main character is introduced as James Gaffney ,an Assassin, and a Legitimate Sport card and memorabilia dealer. His real name is still a mystery.
His apprentice and right hand gal is a tech savvy technically still a teen named Marisa, a child he had saved yrs ago.
James have been hunted for years by Detective Reggie Keane, who hasn’t been anything to stick to Mr. Gaffney.
A Corrupt FBI agent is also after James Gaffney.
As if that wasn’t enough flys in the soup, the heat is turned up when the body of a kid that went missing .(Was suppose to been dead )15 years ago washes ashore. It is the son of a Mob boss of the Caruso family.
James has to scramble and hustle as best he can before he has an angry Mob family after him as well as the Detective and the FBI.
It was a well thought out story and you can’t help but like the characters. The only thing I did not like was the so-called “cliffhanger”; honestly it stunk the way the book ended so abruptly. I am all for making your audience craving for more but that was over kill in my opinion. Never the less this was an excellent read fast paced and enjoyable.

From the first line to the killer cliffhanger of an ending, I was hooked. I love the whole concept behind our not-so-tough guy, baseball card dealing, child "kidnapping" protagonist. This is not your typical crime novel and that's what makes it so intriguing. The pace never lets up and the stakes get higher and higher. A great read that now has me wanting more. I loaded up the next two books as soon as I was done!
