Fanny Kelly is the wife of Lieutenant Fergus Kelly. They will be leaving Fort Laramie as Fergus is to establish a post at Green River. Fanny was a close friend of Elizabeth Bacon & attended the wedding of Elizabeth to General George Custer. As a matter of fact, Fanny met Fergus Kelly at the wedding & they were married nine months later. Unlike Libby & George Custer, their marriage started downhill almost immediately & it was obvious there was no love from the beginning & any opportunity that something could develop was soon discarded by Fanny as Fergus constantly belittled & degraded her at every turn. On their journey to Green River Fanny will ride with a couple & their five-year-old daughter Mary, as a small wagon train will also accompany the soldiers. This will be the turning point in both Fergus & Fanny's life & things will never, ever be the same.
I highly recommend this book & plan on reading the others in this series. I have found that I am never disappointed when I begin another Robert Vaughan western. It's always exciting & hard to break away from reading another well thought out story by this author.
