5.0 out of 5 starsA good primer on getting up and running with Scrivener
Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2016
I've had Scrivener for several months now, and while I felt comfortable using it, I also had a nagging feeling I wasn't using it to its full potential, so I bought Scrivener Superpowers to help fill in the gaps.
It's a quick read. I finished it in a couple hours (I confess that I skipped the author testimonials and went straight to what I was looking for: the instructions and insights into the application).
Just to be clear, this book is no replacement for the Scrivener manual. It gives information in broad strokes, and specifics in certain areas, particularly with regard to the features and flexibility that make Scrivener so powerful but somewhat confusing to new users (like me). It doesn't cover the length and breadth of the software. The author's focus appears to be getting the reader/writer up and running in the application with a minimum of fuss, and in this regard, the book is very successful.
The author also includes lots of links to supplemental information for authors. Of particular use to me is Herron's very own No Nonsense Novel Template. It's much better and far more comprehensive than the default template that comes with the program, and I plan on using it (with some minor modifications) for my own writing projects.
If you are an author looking for software made for writers, or an author wannabe (like me), you should get Scrivener, and immediately after that I recommend buying Scrivener Superpowers, by M.G. Herron.
