Stark 55A monster charger/starter
Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2017
Stark 55A monster charger/starter, a big heavy box that contain large transformer, bridge of diodes to convert AC to DC volt.
The unit needed minimum assemble of the wheels and the bottom leg. also including 2 cables, 2 fuses (50A) and 6 pages "manual".
To use the unit you have to connect the red cable to the 12V or to the 24V port.
There are 2 selectors one is a timer 5 to 60min, and the other is for 6 positions of charge 3 for slow, and 3 for fast, and last position for start.
The built in display shows the AMPs that are being delivered to the battery.
At the fast charge the charging voltage goes above 16v, and you can set the timer from 5 to 60min, at the slow charge the voltage is ~15.5V and the timer is disabled Normal car alternator should deliver up to 15V charging voltage. the question if you can charge the battery without disconnection one of the car cables, as it might burn the alternator.
There is no automatic shut off.
There is no fan inside (as claimed) to cool the components, and there is no battery inside for jump start.
The manual says that you need to connect the unit foe 2min, on start. It seem to pass high current through your battery. I tested that and voltage goes to 18V, the car started immediately.
The 6 pages manual is poor, half is describing another unit, and the other 3 pages is not useful either.
Going to stark USA site, it requires registration, but it does not let you in, after registration. I wanted to check for new manual, and warranty.
