Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This is Julia Donaldson writing for slightly older children. My seven year old loves these books. She can read them herself and she finds them really funny. I was looking forward to giving her this for Christmas, BUT, one of the two stories is not new - she has already read it in 'The Princess Mirror-Belle Collection'. This Christmas book includes 'Swan Lake', which is (I hope!) a new story, but the second story is 'The Sleep Walking Beauty' which she has already read in the Collection (see The Princess Mirror-Belle Collection) and is included in 'Princess Mirror-Belle and the Flying Horse' (see Princess Mirror-Belle and the Flying Horse).
Such a shame - they are great books and the writing is fantastic but the publisher is letting the author and customers down by publishing old material as if it is new. They admit as much at the front of the book, but not in any of the publicity material. I paid £5.29, which is a lot to pay for a book I already half own. Very disappointed.
Not a picture book, my 4 year old daughter has another mirabelle book which is full colour with some lovely drawings so I assumed this would be the same but it’s just plain black text. There are some drawings but black line drawings. The stories are ok but lack of colour means my daughter is not interested, would only suit older children who can read themselves.
Disappointed, was expecting similar to Princess Mirrorbelle & the dragon pox which my 4 year old loves. No colourful pictures & stories slightly too long for bedtime. Will be putting away until she’s older & searching for a different Christmas book :(
Highly disappointed! Lydia Monks exciting and colourful illustrations are what drew me to this book, it was disappointing therefore, to discover an a5 book, with no more than a pretty front cover and some black and white pictures inside. Misleading really..
Just received this book for my daughter. It is not what I was expecting at all. Usually Julia Donaldson books are fun for parents to read, colourful and full of pictures, this is black and white with only a couple of pictures (also black and white) It contains two stories, with largeish print, around 40 pages long.
This is NOT a standard JD book (Gruffalo etc) this is an early reader/chapter book with the characters from princess mirrorbelle.
The stories seem well written though and my daughter should be able to read it herself but disappointed that I'll be unable to properly be able to share it with her Christmas eve.
