This book has a few heartwarming and soul-searching stories, but those stories are few and far between and outweighed by the rest of the book which I can only describe as shallow and often pretentious. From the trivial story of a bored stay-at-home wife spending a morning in a spa salon in France, to the condescending story of a missionary wife bragging about being a savior to underprivileged West Africans, and everything else in between, this book left me uneasy, uninspired, and at times disgusted. If you're looking for travel stories that celebrate cultures, diversity, and personal growth, look somewhere else.
