Almost All Peanuts - Not Much Else - Premium Price for Below-Average Nuts
Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2017
We love Happy Belly nuts, but this one is an exception. I intended to buy the "Deluxe" mixed nuts, but picked these by accident. The labels are practically identical, which is the first thing we hated about it!
There are way, way, WAY too many peanuts, especially for the premium price they charge. I can get a better deal locally on mixed nuts with far less peanuts. If I wanted 70-80% peanuts, I could buy peanuts for a fraction of the price of this stuff.
The other nuts in the bag, what few there were, were much smaller (meaning lower quality) than what I find in even a "store brand" can of mixed nuts. There were also far fewer "non-peanut" nuts in the mix. And what there were of those seemed to be mostly almonds. Tiny almonds. Not enough hazelnuts or brazil nuts at all.
We will not be buying this particular product ever again. There's still about 1/3 of the bag left and it looks like what's there is well over 90% peanuts as if the bag wasn't mixed very well. Will probably end up throwing the rest away after the nuts go rancid. Very, very disappointed.
This purchase has me re-thinking if I even want to continue to buy Happy Belly nuts. Packaging in a clear plastic bag may take up less space, but nuts don't stay nearly as fresh as they do in a can. If you're going to package a supposedly premium product in cheap bags, you should charge less. It doesn't take much to make this right, but the little complaints I have are enough to keep me from buying Happy Belly in the future.
