How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars6.5 year old son loves but be aware of some language
Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2019
My 6.5 year old son LOVES the Bad Guy books which has sparked a love of books for him. The only issue I have with these books is saying “unkind” words like dumb, stupid, sucks, etc but it was a great opportunity to teach him that he is going to hear unkind words like this all the time and it’s all how he reacts. We need to teach our children how to react in situations instead of running to tell a parent/teacher a book says stupid. Teaching them young will hopefully help as they get older. When I was young, they were BAD words and I would get in trouble if I said them but I didn’t understand why they were bad words. As I got older, I was more tempted to use those words because they were outlawed. Kids ask a million questions because they WANT to learn and it’s up to us adults to teach them why the world is the way it is without 100% sugarcoating it.

Cute story idea and plot, but too much bathroom humor/language, rude sarcasm and name-calling for little kids. Chicken Squad books are much better, we were hoping these would be similar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turned out to be a great present and will be purchasing the entire series!

Bought this book and book #2 for a Christmas present for my nieces as they are transitioning from “little kid book” to “chapter books” as one of my nieces likes to say…
They were both excited to start the books. One turned to me after opening the present and said “you want me to read a chapter book?!”
Fast forward to reading at home with some help from mom. Turns out they both love these books! The books are pretty thick and worth the price. Will definitely be purchasing the rest of the series.
Will even be passing the book onto my nine year old nephew who has dyslexia and is just learning to read- the pages and text are not too overwhelming and will update my review with his experience of the book.

I see some of the lower star reviews saying “fart humor” is bad- the book is about being able to change yourself to be a better person. Did these people read the book? Or are they so offended that a fart joke does it for them now? This book was written for kids- and kids tend to find fart jokes funny- it’s a phase we all go through.

Would recommend for kids who are transitioning to chapter books, who love to read, who love to laugh, or if you’re looking for a nighttime book to read with your kiddos.

5.0 out of 5 stars 8 year old son loves it! Crude humor and a story that's right up his alley

I was buying Dog Man Unleashed (Dog Man #2): From the Creator of Captain Underpants  for my 8 year old son when this popped up as a suggestion. Since it was the right price, I bought it on a whim hoping he would like it. Boy am I glad I did; he LOVES this book! Whenever I hear spontaneous laughter coming from his room, sure enough, he's reading this book.

The words and vocabulary are easy to read and he loves the premise of these "bad guys" trying to be good. And of course a little bit of crude (e.g passing gas) humor also added to the merriment.

I will definitely be buying more of these. True, it's not fine literature, but he's enjoying reading and that to me is what matters.

My 7 yr old son loves this series. Perfect for readers who have outgrown the "Step Into Reading" books but are not quite ready for full blown chapter books. This book had roughly 9 chapters but was still a fairly light and quick read.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's suuuuper funny

Review from my 2nd grader: This book is soooooo funny. It is about people called the "bad guys" but they try to be good guys. There is Mr. Shark, Mr. Wolf, Piranha, and Mr. Snake, which are usually bad guy animals, but in this book they try to be good guys. What makes this book so funny is that they do funny things on missions, like trying to save a cat where they make funny faces. Mr. Wolf is the boss and he thinks up all of the missions. Mr. Shark is usually the disguise because he puts on funny outfits. Somebody should read this book if they like funny things. There are a lot of pictures which really help tell the story.

I purchased this because my students were reading about the new movie. I think it was the most fun they have ever had with me reading a book to them. Many said that they would want to read the rest in the series.

My eight year old daughter caught the flu which quickly turned to pneumonia. Reading this book got us through her stay in the hospital. She laughed so hard we would have to take breaks from reading it so she didn't get too worked up. The characters are loveable, the jokes are nonstop and the plot was right up her alley (save the world). I would like to thank the author for writing it. She has for the most part recovered from her pneumonia and read all five books in the series. We can't wait for the sixth one in March. As a mother, I cried a lot while she was sick, and I'm thankful this book gave us something to smile about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a fan of chapter books

My son has been very reluctant to read chapter books, so I am thrilled I found this book. We both enjoyed it and when he finished reading this book he asked for another. I immediately bought The Bad Guys books 2&3. Of course once he finished those two books he asked for another. I told him I preordered #4 but it won't arrive for a few months. He's bummed, but decided to read the first three again while we wait. I definitely recommend!

My kid read it all in one setting, went to school the next day, and checked out as many in the series they would allow. Love finding a good story they get into!
