All hits, no filler
Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2017
This album has all the major hits from Hall & Oates that were important. It includes none of the filler material, so you get to enjoy the whole album. It is soul-flavored rock, and good music to boot.
The times are mostly album versions. The only exception is Adult Education, which is the shorter version. The song I Can't Go For That, hard to find as an album version, runs full time. And so do most of the other songs--and no 12" single versions either. What you got on the album, more or less, is what you get here.
You will not find filler material here. Songs such as "It's A Laugh" are included on this album, as is "Wait For Me". You will not find material like My Imagination, How Does It Feel to Be Back, Possession Obsession, or other album cuts here that would make it impossible to fit on one disc and still have album versions. But they took the time to give you the songs that were important--which I feel is a plus.
You also will not find material after 1985, either. This is because they changed labels around there. No Dreamtime, Everything Your Heart Desires, or So Close because of the label change. Again, inclusion of those fine songs would prevent them from fitting the important pre-1985 material onto a single disc at a reasonable price. They did a good job in selecting the biggest and most important hits, making this a great value, as it was.
