First off, I must say that the writing is fantastic, and the historical examples put forward by the author are very well woven into the storyline. Having said that, I made the mistake of purchasing these books as a set, so I couldn't not read them even after I completely gave up on the storyline. SPOILER ALERT: When John Morgan decides a "reset" is necessary and causes a grid down event that will kill millions of people, he's not a hero. When Sarge discovers the truth, and then goes to great lengths to cover for John Morgan and keep the truth from getting out, he's not a hero. When Sarge knows all of this and manages to convince the rest of America that he is a good guy as opposed to the President of the United States who used this event to seize dictatorial powers, it starts to get really stupid. As in "OK, so your mentor caused this event, and the President seized upon it, and you found out about it, but kept your mentor around even though he has proven himself to a sociopath who knows what is best for everyone so killing millions is a good idea, then you convinced the rest of America that they should elect you president....."

It's really quite ridiculous, and scary at the same time. This author believes that killing millions of Americans would be justified to return us to our basic constitutional principles. The Boston Brahmin as written about would be right up there Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and Hitler. They all thought that killing millions would be a great way to "reset" their countries too.

Understand, this a review of the whole series, not just this one book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Freedom or Tyranny

How do I begin. What a series this is! Sarge is named head of the Boston Brahmin by John Morgan, who, unfortunately, suffers a stroke. Steven is in charge of the Mechanics, the military extension of the Boston Brahmin. Katie, well lets just say she is not thrilled with the choice. And then there's O'Brien, who is illegally appointed governor of Massachusetts by a tyrannical president, who wants nothing short of total control. He wants to be dictator, and will do everything in his power to achieve his goal. Then to add to the mix of everything that the president has been illegally doing, puts UN forces in charge of enforcing law and order.

What a way to bring about a group of people, The Mechanics, who will stop at nothing to have their freedom back. The Boston Brahmin would like to restore freedom by diplomacy, but the way things are going, it seems less and less likely that will happen.. And then the president does something that is totally unacceptable to the people, and he sets off the powder keg that was simmering just below the surface of the population

The non stop action is incredible. The personal stories are deeply woven and you find yourselves right in the thick of things. And it is so close to what is happening in the world today that you should definitely put this series on your to do list today.

Choosing to stick up for what is right is an attitude that is disappearing in our society, even or perhaps even more so in the wake of loosing freedoms. The Mechanics are the exceptions. They are the 3%ers... they want to fight back. The boots on the ground sometimes do different things than the leaders want. They are the ones suffering and they want to force changes, changes they feel are long overdue. They are beyond diplomacy! They want to choose Freedom, and fight for it!

If this is the final book in The Boston Brahmin series, it really shouldn't be. There is so much more that could be explored with these characters in this setting. I would have given it a 5 star rating except it abruptly ended at the 75% mark on my Kindle. I really don't enjoy all the appendices. The writing is terrific and all of Mr. Akart's books are hard to put down. The reality of the advantage the rich have in a collapse situation is very enlightening. I have a feeling the politics in this story are more truth than fiction. I'll miss Sarge, Drew, Abbie, Mr. Morgan to name a few of the wonderful characters. I highly recommend the series to anyone who is not a government subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't stop reading Bobby's books! First Rate Winner!

Wow, this book is full of twists and a whopper of an ending. It's great - lots more action, angst, (Im questioning some characters thoughts and actions), and some 2nd guessing. Bobby scripted the scenes perfectly and kept me very engaged in the military maneuvers and fighting. Sarge's speeches were enlightening and I wanted to cheer with him. The question was asked, " How far is too far? Is there a limit to how far one may go to achieve their goals?" We see both sides of this question as Sarge and his group are fighting for the America we want back vs O'Brien, the gangs and the UN mercenaries fighting for what they can take. It's a home run winner for Bobby Akart. Absolutely loved it.

As the story moves along, we learn that John Morgan and the Boston Brahmin are involved in the cyber attack against USA power grid, along with the full knowledge and blessing of our illustrious president. While Morgan and his cohorts rap themselves in the flag, we find their true motive is more power and wealth. The President’s motivation s total power.
