Top critical review
A timely and compelling title with some smart critical thinking insights---but comes up short on the solution.

I saw this book at the City Lights store in North Beach and was looking forward to reading it. The title is both timely and pretty compelling---as are the book's Forward comments. Upon reading, however----while I applaud the opportunity to engage in some of the critical thinking the author provides in this book, it becomes somewhat suspect early on as the book's Leftist POV clouds any objectivity needed in such an important discussion. Giroux relentlessly bashes Donald Trump in a manner not required to argue any objective solution to solve our country's divided political dilemma. And while education is a critical component in the author's solution, it's rather naïve to assert that a new revised pedagogy itself can be the answer. There's a lot more to it than that, in my opinion. My skepticism about this book is further affected given that Giroux lives and teaches in Canada and not in the States. Res ipsa loquitor.
