Reading Greg Yatman’s personal account of his experience preparing for and climbing Mt. Ranier, had me feeling like I was there. His detailed descriptions of the routes, with their rocky ridges, ladders over crevasses, glaciers, and crater, are enough to inspire anyone who has considered the climb, and conjure up memories for those who have already done so. Mr. Yatman’s book is packed with advice — and every idea, technical tip, and suggestion is humbly served up with insight, humor, and terrific quotes. It's a thoughtful and well-organized handbook. My impression is that it was written with a lot of passion as well as with a true spirit of wanting to help anyone who may be new to climbing, and has his or her eye on Mt. Ranier.
This guide is not only practical but very inspiring. Summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro was a life-changing experience. One I'd like to repeat. This book puts those types of goals in my sights. Thank you, Yatman. Good work!!

I really loved reading this book. It has everything anyone needs to plan a mountain climb to Rainier or other IS national parks. There are lists of things you will need, gear, food, etc. He has also listed mountain guide services. He also has exercise plans that can prepare people for mountain climbs. Great book
