How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsSeriously, Watch This Show. Don't Say You Kant Because You Can!
Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2018
I can genuinely say this is the only US TV comedy series that's actually (a) worth watching, and (b) funny. While the moral philosophy is wafer-thin and far too reliant on Kant, that really doesn't matter because the conceit works within its own terms. If you're paying attention you'll work out the twist by the end of Episode 2, but even if you do (or don't) the series works regardless.

My personal favorite moment was the "solution" to the classic trolley car problem posited back in 1967 by Philippa Foot, but everyone will have their own favorite bits. Just watch, be amused, and be profoundly grateful that the US was capable of making one TV show that didn't assume a brain-dead audience. Plus: no laugh track!

3.0 out of 5 starsGreat show, bad DVD compalation
Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2017
Great show, but here's the problem with the DVD (and once i saw it was made by Shout Factory I was worried). The extended episodes for the 1st episode are not here! I vividly remember the joke about ELeanor not being able to get drunk until she believes she can . . . this is nowhere on the DVD. The other episodes do have their extended versions (the cactus one on "Most improved Player" is fantastic). Apparently no on does audio commentary anymore as there are only two here (yes technically it's four episodes, but no, it's two different sessions and they don't have all the majors there. It has been a while since I bought a DVD for a TV series, and the creator even jokes about "who listens to audio commentarys" on dvds anymore". Well I do, it's one of my favorite things when done right, ala Futurama.

BOTTOM LINE: Wonderful show, must see if you haven't, but I don't know about this DVD. I wanted to purchase it to support the show, but otherwise . . . . it's basic :)

Funny with a unique way of looking at the afterlife. It is very lighthearted. I thoroughly enjoy this show. The only problem is that the episodes come too slowly.

Network shows don't usually get credit for being on the level of prestige networks, because usually they are not. I think this one is, and should. Some people say they have been put off by the cutesy-ness, or "forced quirk." I never got those particular vibes from the show; I thought the jokes were funny and the people were unforced in their quirkiness. Regardless of your opinion, it turns out that the atmosphere of the show is there for a purpose, and...wow.

I enjoy every character. I usually can't guess the plots. (I'm a sad lazy couch potato, so I have some experience with plot-guessing, ugh) The humor is original. "Smart" shows usually aren't that smart. This one is smart all on its own, instead of just telling you all the time about how smart it is. It does the relatively rare thing of being a show worthy of, and calling out for, a rewatch. I am excited they got the go ahead for season 2. I hope they win all the Emmys.

I'd honestly give this more than 5 stars if possible. Always wanted to see it but just decided to buy this to see if funny. WAY more funny than even thought. After you die it's not heaven or hell it's a good place or the bad place. The main person Eleanor accidently gets sent to the good place where she IN NO WAY belongs. That causes a lot of crazy things to happen. Ted Danson is the guy who designed this good place and he admires humans so much he wants to live there too. With a ton of funny people and insane stuff you will not be able to not laugh out loud. I swear it brought me to tears. I have a few more to watch and it looks like not everything is as it was said to be BUT SO FUNNY.

I have to be honest, I didn't watch this show during it's regular broadcast. I blew it off as being something light-weight and that I probably wouldn't like. Later thought, I rented the DVD set and ended up binge watching the whole first season in one setting. I enjoyed it so much, I then ordered the set for my video collection.

The show is quirky on sort of an intellectual humor sort of way. Lots of subtle humor. So it's probably something that some people would love and other hate, and some see as more 'Meh'. For me, I think a lot of it is hilarious. The humor sort of reminds me of the short lived series "Better Off Ted". I'm looking forward to watching the second season.

Charming.
Clever.
Smart dialogue and a great plot twist.
"The Good Place: Season One" is an example of what good comedy is all about. It tackles some important social issues, has some very strong female characters, and - best of all - it's really funny.
Kristen Bell and Ted Danson head the cast but there are no weak links anywhere in the ensemble. The direction is smooth, the cinematography is unobtrusive, and the whole concept of the show is well thought out.
In other words: Great television.
