While it looks like a field guide, it's actually an informative reference for the casual herbalist. Scott Kloos includes a lot of personal experience and opinion, which is the reason to buy this book I think. If you're looking for any medicinal science information or a comprehensive field guide then look elsewhere. One feature this book has that I like is the helpful instructions for how to harvest sustainably and prepare different remedies such as tictures or teas.
It has some spiritual themes which is why I give it 4 stars. I wanted a guide to herbs, their effects, and how to prepare them, not an introduction to your brand of spirituality.
