Failed in under a day, just as bad as the notorious Belkin

Failed in under a day. I didn't think anything could possibly be as bad as the Belkin USB-C Ethernet interface which failed in a week but, there you have it. I highly suspect that either Amazon OEMed theirs from Belkin, or that Amazon and Belkin both use the same supplier. I'm using it with a late 2017 Mac. Same thing happened with this adapter that happened with the Belkin, it gets really hot, and then just suddenly stops working. I'm using with a late 2017 MacBook Pro. I tried it in all four ports. I went in to the prefs and removed it from the control panel to try and force it to reinstall but the system doesn't recognize it at all which indicates a failure in the USB-C interface on the adapter (when you try to manually add it after plugging it in, it doesn't even show up in the list of available options). If you go to the Apple menu, select "About This Mac" and then click on "System Report" you can get a status of all the hardware and subsystems. If you click on USB it should show you everything attached to the USB bus and it shows nothing at all.
