For me, this was a solid collection of unusual horror-ish stories. I say unusual because the stories include random things like a man-eating mountain lion and a horde of snails. Yeah, there's a zombie story in there as well, but we can forgive that because it's not a terrible zombie story. Of course, there were a couple head-scratching moments (one ending in particular made me go back and re-read to see if I missed something...I didn't, It just made no sense to me), but I'm willing to overlook that when the writing is good. I had only read one of these authors before (Essig) so the others are all new to me. With this collection, they've introduced themselves to me the right way - they made me want to read more. If there's a Vol 2 in the works, I'll pick it up for sure.
