Kate is the widowed single mother of a little girl with chronic asthma. She works 3 jobs (in addition to being a mother) - charter boat captain, substitute teacher, and freelance book editor(? - or something to that nature). Craig is a widow as well, but his take on being a single father is a little more off hands. His relationship with his young daughter is suffering because he can't seem to get his head out of his butt. He takes a change of position with the Coast Guard and moves from Washington to Nantucket. Kate and Craig help each other, through the Word of God to overcome their grief and struggles.
One of the things I like best about Irene Hannon's books is that her characters are not perfect. They deal with the struggles life brings us and with God's help move forward to the life He has for them.
This is my 17th Irene Hannon novel, and I'm going to read all 50. She's a very gifted author and I thoroughly enjoy each one. My goal in this endeavor. To uplift my spirit, put down negativity and make my heart light.
This book is part of the Lighthouse Lane series, which doesn't have to be read in order - I didn't do so. The characters live out real-life situations, nitty gritty type of things that happen to real families, and not in a fantasy way either. The books talk about God's love, His forgiveness, and the forgiveness we need to have for ourselves and each other - truly inspiring. I recommend this book to those who read short novels for inspiration and pleasure, but you might not want to put it down.
Life takes on many twists and turns in this story and in our lives. Once again this author grabs your attention with a story of adventure, excitement and love and how God directs our lives as we trust Him.
