5.0 out of 5 starsGreat Cuff
Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2017
This is a follow up review of the manual blood pressure cuff, I have been a registered nurse for 27 years and in that time I have used many blood pressure cuffs as you can imagine. So far I really love the Paramed cuff, it is very easy to use, light weight, comes with its own carry pouch and a tiny key that allows you to adjust the dial to 0 for an accurate reading. I am truly happy with this purchase and highly recommend the Paramed cuff. If you are looking for a home blood pressure cuff this one cant be beat for price and reliability.

1.0 out of 5 starsNope. Don't buy this one. Company does not support their product.
Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2018
I bought this BP cuff in July 2018 it is now December 2018 and they are done. I work in home health care and only use these with pt's that have afib or irregular conditions that cause my automatic BP sleeve to malfunction so these got used maybe twice a month. The reviews were good but this cuff failed after 20~30 uses. I kept it in the zip up bag inside my big bag so it was protected and treated well. Build quality looks good but the proof is in the performance and that obviously was lacking. Don't buy it! I asked the company to provide me a replacement diaphragm fro the cuff but no reply to my message on AMAZON.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great deal but not professional quality

Very good for the price but not comparable to professional bp kit. My med school bp kit from welch allen is still ticking 20 plus years later but I misplaced it in a move. This paramed cuff has thinner tubing, the meter is made of durable metal material even if clip is flimsy. Cuff seems like it will last. Great deal but quality is not comparable to professional cuffs that unfortunately cost 10 x as much. Probably i would use for home only or as a cheap backup.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, seems well made

just bought an aneroid sphygmomanometer. I'm a retired cardiologist so I'm familiar with BP cuffs.
this one feels well made and sits securely on my arm. the gauge is easy to read and the valve is stable.
only suggestion is to consider someone who would want to take his own BP and figure a way to sit the gauge on a table
so it could be easily read. otherwise, nice product at a great price.
purchased through Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall great value sphygmomanometer.
Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2021
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
This sphygmomanometer was something I purchased for nursing school. It was pretty easy to use and I knew it was accurate because its readings were very close to the ones I measured with my electronic sphygmomanometer. The only problem I had with it was how the knob (for keeping/releasing pressure in the cuff) stopped turning smoothly after 3 weeks of daily use. Since the knob wasn't turning properly anymore, this resulted in the readings jumping too much and allowing me to miss the first/last Korotkoff sounds for blood pressure readings. However, this is definitely a sphygmomanometer I would recommend for the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not pre calibrated (UPDATED: Customer serv manager sent over a new unit)

Not sure if product is calibrated correctly. Don’t buy for accuracy. Systolic was always at 140. Buy if you only want to practice and hear. I’m going to buy a Welch Allyn instead. (UPDATED: Customer service manager was very nice and considerate and sent over a new unit. I haven't had a chance to open the new unit and check it out due to COVID shutdown of our clinicals. I will update this review at another date. Thank you. I am upgrading to 4 stars due to the customer service of Mary.)

Nursing student's mom
4.0 out of 5 stars Needle fell out after 7 readings--customer service replaced after reading my review.
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2021
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
Revised original post (below): Customer Service read my review (below) and reached out to me. Replacement cuff arrived in two days and works as expected.

I bought this cuff for a nursing student (delivered 1/14/21) who, luckily, had not used it with patients. The first use (three readings) on Feb. 6th were weird (highly unexpected). When she returned home yesterday for a weekend visit, she attempted to take more blood pressure readings on us so she could compare them with another blood pressure cuff in our home. [Covid-isolation means she has not been able to access or practice on others while living in a new town and learning online/remotely.] After equally weird results and on the fourth reading, the needle popped off rendering this (practically brand new) unit completely unusable--6 days after the return period expired! We are VERY disappointed with the product and hope the seller will refund us our money or issue us a replacement. [FYI, she is an experienced user (Certified Nursing Assistant) who has been taking blood pressure readings for more than nine months; this is not user error.]

4.0 out of 5 stars A sturdy No Nonesense Manual Blood Pressure Cuff/Sphygmomanometer
Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2018
Color: BlueVerified Purchase
Product Quality Scale: 4
Delivery arrived without any issues and the item and box were intact and in good condition. I was able to connect the gauge easily - it fit snugly and seems like the item is of good quality - tried using it a few times and pumped it up to 300mmHg and held it there for about 50 secs. to see if there are any leaks - everything is in great condition. I am planning to use it this weekend for a Geriatrics Exercises Certification Seminar and hope for it to hold out well with the rigors of using the BP cuff beyond just reading people's blood pressure as a manual BP cuff actually has a number of other uses in the medical field. I noticed a calibration key was also included but I did not see any part in the manual that would help be use it to calibrate the BP (in the future if needed), but everything is otherwise clean and very well-made, including it's compact pouch.

Thank you very much ParaMed for giving us a good option for a manual sphygmomanometer.

Update after the Geriatrics Seminar:
The whole package easily fit in my wife's tote seminar bag. We were not able to use the BP as much as our previous weekend seminar but it turned out very handy when I started having palpitations and did not clear for quite a while after our circuit training/aerobic training lab work. The readings were about +5/-5 difference vs. digital BP monitor we were able to borrow when read with a good stethoscope. I was glad I had this on the ready.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality
Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2018

Currently working towards my EMT license and I was at a complete loss when it came to finding a decent manual blood pressure cuff. After doing some looking around, this cuff seemed to fit the bill for everything I was looking for. I just received it today and finally got to try it out and I love it. It's easy to use, the D ring is helpful to make sure you're getting the cuff on with the right pressure, and opening the bulb was easy. It's also a brighter pink than shown in pictures. The only real negatives I can tell are that it takes several pumps to fill the bladder and I don't care for how long the tube with the gauge is but that is a minor complaint. I did see where there is a loop on the cuff to hold your stethoscope steady but didn't use it this time. All in all, well built and definitely does its job and does it well. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a manual blood pressure cuff. I give this product 4.5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars The meter worked for exactly ONE week
Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2022
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
It worked fine for one week, then the needle on the meter would stick at about 117 and wouldn't rise any higher while pumping up the cuff. It will stay frozen there until I deflate to less than that level. Luckily I have spare meters that still work else I'd return it. So far the bladder hasn't sprung a leak to I'll keep using it with the spare meter. Seems accurate.
UPDATE (25 April 2022)
The seller contacted me and said she was troubled by my review and would like to set things right, and she did. She promptly sent me another cuff and meter. So far, everything works fine and I appreciate her response. I am an expert on my BP and know how it runs, and this meter is so far accurate. For those reviewers who complain about it taking several pumps of the bulb to get the needle to move, that is because is it a good-sized cuff, and unless you have a huge arm, it will take a few extra pumps to get the needle to move and then rise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, especially for home use and for use as a student.

Review of the Paramed Aneroid Sphygmomanometer Basic. This is a pretty good product. I have 2 of them. The second one has some loose stitching, but this doesn't seem to effect the performance. Strange thing is that my first came with a different kind of screwdriver to adjust the meter, and I think it came fully assembled- unlike the second one which I had to put together. Maybe they were from two different runs... At any rate, I do recommend this product overall and just wish there was a way to make it without having to loop the cuff through the metal ring. The ring keeps it well in place when taking the blood pressure and helps with accuracy, but it does slow things down a bit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy reliable and one handed B/P cuff!
Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2019
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
As an RN I have Hypertension as I've aged and I developed swelling in my leg. I found an article that told me one of my meds, Norvasc, was the probable cause. My Primary agreed and changed my med but I must take my blood pressure 2x a day and record it. My cuff died and I chose this one which is much easier to use one handed. Even comes with a tool to calibrate it if you have to adjust it. I have a "soft" pulse and those automated cuffs used everywhere tend to overpump and give me much higher readings!😁 Try asking them to use the "real thing" and they don't have one. You can bring it along with you 😊 but do they have a stethoscope?
