Ben is a small boy who wakes up feeling grumpy one day. He decides to take a walk with the hope he will feel better. As he continues on his way, Ben meets a pig, cow, sheep and then a mother hen. The first three suggestions to think of his favorite things, sing a song, and skip, don't seem to be changing his mood. But when Ben comes across the mother hen, she asks Ben to do something that turns things around for him.
A few cute illustrations help young children follow the rhyming story. Readers learn to be proactive rather than rely on others on how to change ourselves for the better. Recommended especially for children in the three to five age group.
