MODERN DAY ALLEGORY OF GOOD V. EVIL, ALTHOUGH SET IN THE 1960S
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 3, 2021
Good v. Evil is the hub of the wheel of all mysteries, thrillers, suspense dramas, police procedurals, and religious teachings. But by what criteria can one judge the difference between doing good for the wrong reasons and doing wrong for the right reasons? Ah, there's the rub at the hub! The golem,( from Jewish myth) Clay, created by man to do his bidding, is one such creature caught in the gray area between good and evil. Made to obey his master, but activated by a symbolic charm ostensibly filled with the blood and body of Christ, can he? Ah, that rub again! Crazy Mary (Staunton), not crazy, but a simpleton, filled with a lifetime of religious teachings, swings between her own reality and a veil of lies. I guess you'll just have to watch it . By the way, Gollum from Lord of the Rings, an obvious reference to a golem, is made crazy, and evil, by his obsession with acquiring The Ring. But I digress. The acting is excellent, the score subdued, the atmosphere well set, and the outcome intriguing. Not a prize winner, but definitely engaging. Try it Mikey, you may like it!
