How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsAwesome book from an amazing series!!
Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2019
Picked this up for my 12 year old son, who absolutely ADORES the Nathan Hale books. This one did not disappoint!
Seriously parents, if you have a reluctant reader who begrudgingly picks up books, you must check this series out!
• Engaging and fun.
• Historically accurate, therefore very educational!
• Great illustrations.
• Fresh and well-written.
My son devours these books from cover to cover. I’ve even had to confiscate them when he has chosen to read “ just a little bit more” when he is supposed to be sleeping. In my opinion, that is demonstrative of a pretty awesome book!
With all of the devices and technology at their fingertips, it’s great when they would rather opt for a book.

3.0 out of 5 starsLanguage Surprise

Enjoyable read, but was surprised to find swearing (though minor) in a book that seems aimed at upper elementary. If the language was cleaned up I'd give it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent history

This is a good book, an interesting story based on real history. If you have read the book "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo," this book gives an excellent visual reference. My teens devoured the book, reading it five times in four days.

Some language may not be appropriate for young readers: damn and hell

The illustrations in the book do a great job with the American and Japanese fleets. One of my sons wanted more about the Japanese.

Two details noted by another son were left out: the book omits Enterprise's role in providing air escorts for the Raiders, and the perfect timing required to launch the B-25s off the deck of the Hornet.

Highly recommend this entire series. More books like this, please!

One son asks for a book about the Navy Seal Medal of Honor winners in Viet Nam. Another wants one about "54-40 or Fight!" It would be great to have a book about the Pueblo Revolt of 1680.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for avid and reluctant readers

My 8yo son has read each of the NHHT books multiple times. He keeps one with him wherever he goes. They can have themes that may be shocking for some, but those opened good discussions for our family. For example, _The Underground Abductor_ exposes some atrocities of slavery that I wasn't aware of. Our kid asked questions, and we talked them out.
If you have a kid who loves learning and humor and you can handle having discussions about hard stuff occasionally, then I highly recommend these books.
We have loaned a couple to friends who don't love reading for pleasure, and they also LOVED these books.

Firstly, I'm an adult who loves this entire book series. These complex stories from history are drawn out in an organized, accurate and charming way. I learn so much from these books - it spurs my eagerness to read other books about history. There is also a good dose of humor that actually makes me laugh out loud. I highly recommend reading this and all of the previous books as well!

My 9yo son loves the Hazardous Tales series. The books keeps him interested & absorbed. He laughs a lot & learns so much about history & real people in it. The comic format really appeals to him like the dog man series, but more educational. This series is a BIG winner in my book!

A great way to introduce youngsters to history through graphic storytelling. A trio of historic characters tell the tale and comment on what's happening in an entertaining manner.

Very fun presentation of serious history. Extremely appropriate for kids and adults alike. The author really draws the audience in. There are even excerpts that manage to bring a tear or two. Give this series a chance.

My 9 year old loves to read books such as Bad Kitty, Dog Man, and others. We wanted something that still read like a comic book, but was a little more complex and that he could learn from. This series is GREAT! He loves them and now has 3 books of the series.

My son has all of Hale’s books and was pleased with his latest. Recommend this for both boys and girls. Not enough American history is taught in school. Hale’s style makes it fun and interesting too.
