Awesome reference book for psych medications. Medications are arranged in alphabetical order by generic name. each medication has details about therapeutics, side effects, dosing and use, special populations, and the art of psychopharmacology. Of course each one of these sections go into further details of the medication and provide you with nearly everything essential you need to know as a provider about the medication.
There is a great INDEX in the back!!! First it lists trade names and generic names with the pg number (pretty simple). There is also an "Index by Use" where disorders are listed alphabetically with the list of medications that treat that disorder; even better the FDA APPROVED MEDICATIONS ARE IN BOLD for even quicker information dissemination. As a student I love this detail. Lastly there is an "Index by Class" where drug classes are listed alphabetically with their numerous drugs listed below (also, pretty simple). It's the best book you can get for learning medications during clinicals as a student and it also makes a great reference book for the experienced psych provider.
I highly recommend the SPIRAL-BOUND version. Definitely worth the extra money. I use this book frequently during my PMHNP clinicals and leave the book open on the desk for reference. The paper-back version Does not always stay open on the desk unless you are actively holding it open. It's a thick book, but only 6" wide, which meakes it skinny and easily closes on itself. All my peer students wish they had bought the SPIRAL-BOUND version as we keep these open for reference all day long. Although, my Preceptor doesn't use his copy like I do. He just uses it for the occasional quick reference, therefore he doesn't need to keep his open on the desk. He does fine with paper-back. If you're going to use this book a lot, get the spiral-bound.
