Not about the trail
Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2018
I enjoy reading about people hiking long trails -- the PCT, Camino, AT. If you do too, this book isn't for you. It's her autobiography, talking about her marriage, her husband, her old jobs, old boyfriends, earlier travels, medical issues, therapy sessions, childhood, family, Italian history, food, hotels, etc -- everything but the trail. She translates about two-thirds of the Italian she uses. Likewise, she drops brand names like "I took off my Keens." Not everyone speaks Italian and not everyone knows the products of the various brand names she drops. Why not just say hiking boots, or is she getting paid to drop names? Does she not want her reader to understand all the words? And she took buses five or six times, but still got her card stamped for walking the pilgrimage trail. If you want to read about how she analyzed her life and sorted things out, you may enjoy this. It wasn't what I wanted.
